Two or three of the aftermarket spoilers actually decreased downforce - i.e., they caused lift...I generally think any and all non-functional mods are stupid.
Carbon Fiber engine hood/bonnets are the worst offender - this car has a ridiculously lightweight aluminum hood to begin with, so the pound or two you save with the carbon is like "bailing the Pacific with a teacup", and all it does is make the car look like it was in a wreck and you couldn't afford to repaint the hood.

+1. Nothing beats a nice clean profile IMO. If any at all, that is if you MUST have one, maybe a lip of some sort that is not really noticable and molded in to the body so no lines show. Again, IMO, spoilers make the car look "taller" and with everyone loving the lowered and sleek look, why add upwards? Side skirts with no spoiler...whew. Now that's Sexxay!

The MS spoiler is simple enough not to look ricey but stylish enough to make the car look more aggressive, but the price is just SICK. IMO if you get a giant gt type wing you had better have a body kit along with sweet wheels to go with it, only then does it look like it "fits". Otherwise u just look like every other ricer out there who slapped on a $200 wing off ebay (from whom all drivers who know better laugh at)......but to answer the post, yes i like the car with a spoiler, just as long as it fits the rest of the cars style.

While we're on the topic of the rear of this car...one thing I really can't stand is seeing other RX-8s that don't have the rear accent. The back of the 8 looks too plain and cheap without the rear accent. You can get away with it if you own a black 8, but for those of you with other colors...shame on you.
Basically what I'm wondering here is, if you don't have a rear accent on your 8, how do you manage to breathe when you wake up in the morning? What a disgrace.

I actually was debating on this for a while before i got my RX-8. Ended up going with the spoiler. Something about the spoiler that made the car have more sporty?? Without it, it just looks a bit plain and dare i say it.......Boring at the rear?? The stock spoiler anyways seems to go well with the arches on the wheel wells and it looks tastifully blended in. The lip spoiler gives the RX-8 a nice touch too, very subtle.

I cannot remember where I read it, but the stock spoiler on the 8 actualy smooths the airflow and reduces drag by a very small amount. It does not provide any downforce though. I don't like the way the stock spoiler looks personaly. Supposedly vortex generators will help with airflow also. I just could not stick those things on the top of my car.

I like very few spoilers. The big f8cking scaffolding ones are just outright horrible. Some of the smaller, more subtle ones are ok. IMO - the 8 has great lines, and the only spoiler I've seen that does not f8ck up said lines it the euro lip.
Oh, and there is an aftermarket producer for the accents - $70 bucks for BOTH!! I have the rear, and it fit & looks great. They didn't have the front available when I got the rear, so I can't comment on the front fitment. Here's their site.

This car is not just a sports car! This is a futuristic car, it doesnt need a spoiler to look nicer, its design is very nice.
If i have to get a spoiler, i would only put the lip spoiler that it makes a small corner only.

I like spoilers on the 8 and I also like the look of a clean trunk lid.
Without a spoiler does make the car look lower and wider from the back.
Not a fan of park benches on the trunk but there are a few of the functional spoilers that look good.
I like the Veilside one because it flows with the lines of the car.
