Its based on the RWD platform called Zeta designed and originating from Australia (Holden) which is totally different from a G6. This also is what the new Camaro is based on. Like anything else, I would educate myself a little bit about a car before I would make baseless assumptions on structural integrity and engineering.
And for the love of god people, stop using the term "muscle car" for this car. That's just as dumb. Is a V8 powered BMW M3 sedan a muscle car? I guess an E63 AMG is too. Dumb.

i wish GM would just bring HOLDEN here as a car brand instead of rebadging them as pontiacs.
somehow when its rebadged people tends to bad mouth it.
btw love that GTO man, i got to drive a friend's GTO, man the torque in that thing is unreal.
third gear wheel spin was scary lol.

third gear spin is fun! It's not too hard to get a healthy chirp out of 4th, stock. We know a nut that has a 1000 lb-ft twin turbo GTO with a minitub, and just rolling into the throttle in 4th, he's leaving snakes all over the road.
These G8's are going to be the same way. I fully expect to see 500-700 rwhp G8's running around here soon. If theyre setup correctly, I bet they'll torch a new M5. Sure, I'd rather have the M5, but I can't wait to see the look on some unsuspecting M5 owners face when a "Pontiac" sedan whips him from a roll. He won't know what it is, or what hit him.

100% agree they should bring the brand here. Absolutely. I think Americans like Australians. Think Greg Norman... Heath Ledger... Holden.

Ya, the "Opel" Sky and Solstice are great examples. One wiki/google search before you bash a car... just learn something, anything, about it before hopping on the bandwagon.

LOL haha... brutal... a Pinto. The M5 owner would drive to the dealership, drop his keys, and demand a refund while weeping uncontrollably. M-button must be broken.

Don't get **** about it. Like someone said it's a new car rebadged under pontiac. Alot of people know little about it. Partly GM's fault for producing so much junk over the years. The car is still unproven long term off the track. One could easily assume it will have it's problems just like the Goat. It is yet to be seen if it will be a success. This is a Mazda rx8 forum. so get over it. Debate is part of any forum. In this case not enough is known about the car other than 1st impressions or assumptions negative or positive. Debate has helped bring out more knowldge about the car. So Sorry you did not contribute anything real. Bite me.

culos gigantes !!!! had a blast again this year - got a big kick from seeing DEVO. The rest of my family enjoyed The Grates, The Panics, Band of Horses, Operator Please, etc. The Weather was warm & dry, the food was great… all up an excellent festival. Read the official Splendour wrap up and we’ll do it all again next year. Here’s what the organisers had to say… What a weekend! In what has been described as the biggest, Best Splendour in the Grass ever, over 17,500 Music fans congregated over the weekend in Byron Bay to celebrate a musical and cultural extravaganza featuring the very cream of international and Australia Music artists, art, theatre, markets, food and culture. Byron locals The Black Stars kicked off musical proceedings on Saturday and the Vibe and the energy Never stopped. At the Big Top stage, a cranked up crowd saw Gold Coast teen superstars Operator Please give us a glimpse of our musical future. Leeds funksters The Music and Scottish melody makers The Fratellis, and the world's hottest new band US-based The Cold War Kids showed exactly why we should believe the hype, while rock gods Gyroscope and The Galvatrons performed storming sets that kept the Aussie flag flying against the bright blue skies. The Living End capped a comeback year with a set of epic proportions before Devo came, saw and conquered with a set featuring their old hits - complete with yellow jumpsuits and flowerpot heads, as if the eighties were reborn. Over at the Grant McLennan Stage, indie favourites The Drones, powerhouse chanteuse Claire Bowditch and US bearded wonders The Band of Horses sang songs of breath taking beauty and depth. The Polyphonic Spree with their choir of 18, completed the evening with a hands in the air, hands on your heart spiritual experience. Over at the Mix Up Tent, our socks were rockin', our buns were shakin' and our feet Never stopped movin'. NZ's Scribe and Bliss N Eso played Music wi

I looked at one today. It's conservative and nice. But I prefer the racey sportscar look of the RX8 over the European sports sedan look of the G8. The rx 8 is also a few feet shorter and leaves room in my garage for other stuff.

It's a **** movie featuring big asses and **** sex. he's comparing to GM rebadging of Holden and selling it here as a pontiac. Maybe he's saying GM is giving it to us up the *** again. If so

Bullshit. I enjoy constructive debate as well, and especially enjoy correcting limp brained remarks like the ones you hapharzardly threw out there. Please, continue... it's quite entertaining.
Not known enough about the car? June 2008 Road and Track. Don't read it. You might get smarter.
