Poor FM radio reception
In my last car I had sat radio so it has been awhile since I listened to FM... but I am wondering if there is something wrong with my reception.
I live in San Fran and the radio station seem to have a lot more static than I remember. Where is the antenna in our car?

You shouldn't get static from a FM radio. Only AM should get static. What you will get at the extreme range of reception is cross talk from a station with the same frequency or just a weak signal. I get very good reception with a station that I know reaches the edge on the daily commute. Over all, mine receives better then the radio in my Tundra.

You may want to have the antenna connection checked.
I've compared the radio in the 8 to several others... my FC, ML, and Millenia. On FM, the reception is superior to the other radios. On AM it wins too.
I've had a couple of days when the FM reception dropped way off ... loose antenna connection? bad circuit? not sure having it checked out at 7500 mi check up.
I'm hoping that the new Sirius
option will be backward compatible to the '04 8 radio. There remains conflicting info about the compatibility.

some have suggested that metallic window tint film can screw with your reception. i dont know that it has been documented. do you have tint? also has anyone scrubbed the inside of your back window? that could cause a problem.
edit: here is an older thread with someone who has the same complaint AND is in the SF area. check it out could be an SF thing

I had poor to no FM reception when I first put the CZ unit in. I then later took it out (I don't listen to radio anyways :p, I wouldn't have known unless the wife hadn't commented on it) to get the car serviced, and put it back in without d/c the battery. Then I checked the radio and it was much better. It will drop off every so often though, even with a strong station.

The radio in my 8 has been absolutley horrible for FM.. 80% of the time I get NOTHING.. No it's not like I live in the middle of nowhere either.. Been to the dealer and they said it was probably a loose connection, they also said they "fixed" it.. Still happens.. going back to the dealer next week.

Hey all,
The antenna is located in the rear window. Mine is perfect. I just came back from a joyride...radio was fine!!
I would take it into your dealer and have them check it out.

FM reception for me is significantly better with the stock radio in my 92 Sentra SE-R than in my brand new 8
