Good news on non glowing cat. How was it inside?
So in the Idle picture your MAF is at 4.3 (shoild be 5) and fuel trim is +18 (should be 0). You clearly have a vacuum leak. If they can't find it, they should at least acknowledge that this data proves there is one.
I drove it some more and i see now that the 02 ring on the cat still glows red(barely). As far as i understand this, since the new cat is glowing, the previous coils were not the cause of the burned cat, since i have same symptoms with the new cat and coils.
Possible there are pieces of old cat in the exhaust creating a blockage?
Thats why I asked what condition the old cat was in when removed.
I don't know, they just told me it was clogged. The rattling sound that i had before with the old cat is gone. It seems to confirm my suspicion that the cat was clogged long time before the CEL. Also the idle LTFT seems to be dropping somewhat. I asked for the old coils back, which i will get tested at a seperate dealer,
PROBLEM SOLVED! I had one other spare MAF lying around which i fitted and here is the result I also noticed that one of the screws for the MAF is shorter than the other, is this correct? One of them doesnt screw all the way in. The LTFT did settle into slightly lean -3,1`% in the end, will this cause any issues?
Im gonna test it for glowing cat later, im really curious if thats fixed, if so, the dealer will be sued accordingly ! THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP !
I don't recall the MAF screws being different. If it doesn't go in all the way, is it holding the MAF snugly? If not you probably want to replacebthe screw or check for obstruction in the screw hole.
But that sounds like good news, its easy for the MAF gasket to be poorly seated.
So your coils are probably fine. This dealer ought to learn to diagnose instead of throwing parts at it. At least you got a free cat

So no cel, no smell, good power, perfect LTFT, but sadly cat is still glowing, i don't get it . You mentioned "Possible there are pieces of old cat in the exhaust creating a blockage?"
I dont see how that could be, i thought the catalytic converter comes mith most of the exhaust system, excluding of course tailpipes and engine exhaust manifold. I just dumped some STP 5 in1 Ultraclean in the tank, was thinking was worth a shot, maybe two full tanks/bottles.
The cat is only the 3-foot long section in your picture. If pieces fall out and roll into the muffler, they would not be replaced when changing the cat.
That amount of glow points to about 1100F external temperature. It's definitely not the ring of red hot metal above 1300F that points to catastrophic failure. Obviously external temperature is much lower than internal, but it gives you an idea. If it's hot outside, must be damn hot inside.
Still, it's not super normal IMO.
If you have your OBD reader, see if you can read cat temperature. There isn't a sensor for it, but the computer can infer temperature from O2 sensor behavior. It should be 900, maybe 930C at most.

Thanks. Cat temperature is listed in the pictures above. MAX is 930-935c.
