Heys guys,
I posted this yesterday on autoblog after reading tons of responses about how the FT-86 is "underpowered". I tried to defend it. Here is what i posted,"THE RX-8 will always be one of the most underappreciated sports cars of all time. The reason why is because it never lived up to rx-7s name and because it was a torqueless, turboless, oil consuming, gas guzzler. I however own one and will continue to put up with its so called deficiencies. People seem to forget what a driver’s car truly is. It is not always about torque, 0-60 times, or drag racing at stoplights, but it’s about how engaging a car can be when pushed to its absolute limits. This little Toyota seems like it will embody that. If anyone has been to an autocross they would understand or if anyone has taken a great handling car around some twisties they would know how rewarding a driving experience can truly be. I remember saying to my friend, “Why are there so many darn miatas at this autocross?” He said because they are cheap affordable fun. I honestly think this car will represent that. This car is going to be great, its rwd, It won’t be too expensive, looks wonderful and im sure it will be a rewarding car when pushed to its limits. If you want fI than get an Sti or something else…… It’s not always about power numbers.
Sometimes I really i wish i had more torque but after five years of ownership i still love my car It fits like the glove and it is still performs like a champ around those corners!
