Potential buyer question...
I test drove an RX8 today and I am going to buy on Friday. My question is should I buy the car I test drove? The salesman encouraged me to go to redline several times. I loved it but with 68 miles on the car, should I be concerned about a break-in period. I can assume that everyone that test drove it did the same thing I did. I that bad for the engine, or should I not worry about it?

Everybody's picky about their break-in, and everybody has their own opinion about how much to baby the RPMs, top speed, oil changes, etc.
The RX-8 owners manual states that there are no specific restrictions about break-in, no RPM limits or top speeds are mentioned. It does recommend no "full-throttle starts" or "prolonged cruising above 7000 RPM" for the first 600 miles.
Furthermore, oil changes are recommended every 7500 miles unless you meet certain criteria, then they are every 5000 miles.
If you like it, get it. It has a warranty. If you can weasel a deal because a few other people drove it before you, so much the better.

i'd say if there is another option on the lot, I'd go for it. If you asked the question, you probably don't want to get the one you test drove. There are always other dealers. Service depts and sale depts are like two complety seperate business even if under the same roof. Take your time and find what you want.
