potential solution to electrical power steering issue
I have had my electric steering cut out in the past. I would restart the car, and it would work sometimes or not. I also remember it doing weird things while driving like assisting going to right but not left, etc. scary stuff.
I did one thing 2-3 years ago, and I have not had a single problem with my power steering. It just popped my mind so I thought to share.
Try to spray "Hosa Cable D5S6 Deoxit contact cleaner spray" to the EPS power connectors (2 prong) and to the steering position sensor (3 prong). Then finish it off with "Hosa F5S-H6 (shield) DeoxIT faderlube". You'll immediately realize that the connectors go in and out much smoothly. Make sure to clean both ends of the electrical steering harness for both the power and sensor wires.
My wiring is not stock, so I don't know where they are located on the stock cars anymore. The very distal end of the wires are at the electrical power steering pump and at the end of the steering shaft. The harness end is probably on the passenger side somewhere. Just trace the wires.
Merry Christmas everyone!
