Power Steering Not Working?!

OK, so my car has yet to be nice to me.. like ever.

Car is starting up rough, could be the weather changes, who knows. It shouldn't be like this - brand new engine in it, I might need to get it compression checked or looked at, though I do not want to drop the money for that bullshit again (I seriously hate every singe Mazda tech and dealer, ever)

So, this happened to me like.. I am not sure last week? The power steering was fine when I went to the store, when I got out, it was "off" or not working (light in dash was on).

Drove home with it, got some muscle out of my arms from it I think, anyways I turn it off, bla bla bla. I go to drive it a bit later - now it works?! O.o

I just tried to run my car again (it has been fine since) and now it's off again...

I think my ECU is ****, hence the shitty starts, the weirdness in how my power is going when I engage the clutch, this power steering issue, etc. but I am not sure. Anyone have any ideas??

Coolant from your overflow likely spilled onto the power connector for the power steering pump at some point.

Try searching please ... this has been covered umpteen hundred times.

I hate to ask James, but haven't you ever seen this complaint on the thread before, from other people? Anyway, read the thread that was provided to you, and try the free fix of taking apart the connector, cleaning it, reconnecting it, and routing the coolant overflow hose the heck away from it first.

If that doesn't work, then buy the replacement wiring harness, and install it.

So few failures of the power steering system are actually physical parts, or related to the ECU in any way. Lot's of people have been forced to replace the power steering system by bad diagnosis, however.

Oh, and you car isn't being mean to you.
It's just that you bought a used car, and didn't do enough research before buying it.

BC.
