Pre - order deposit for Rx-8

Are Mazda dealers already accepting pre - orders or deposits for the Rx-8??

I haven't been to my local Mazda dealer yet to seek out any info...

If so... How much do u have to deposit?, does the deposit guarentee u the car when it first comes out? and what kind of info do they need for u to pre- order?

thanks..

Some dealers are, some are not as I found out when I put my deposit down.

I'd say a good deposit is $500, though some dealers will take less. The only reason I put a deposit down is because I want the first one in my area and I want it the way I want it, instead of them getting a shipment in and me not getting a few things I'd like to have gotten.

For me though, fully loaded model with the 250hp engine, in a dark blue

In my case, a local dealer has been taking deposits for the RX-8 since before September when I put mine down. (I forgot when I was told the first person put down a deposit, but it was long before I did) Supposedly, the $500.00 would hold the MSRP of the car, and would put me on the list of those the first shipment would be held for. I don't think there was really a guarantee as such; all kind of a good faith thing between dealer and buyer.

As I understand it, each dealership would be allocated a quantity of RX-8's, partially dependent on how many people pre-ordered from that dealer. Specifics about options weren't really discussed, since nobody knew any details at that time.

Better see if you can get your foot in the door now if you're interested!

I don't think you'll see that until the 8 is out for a year. The reason being mainly, because Mazda needs to test the waters before they rush out with different versions of cars that might not sell

I'm actually quite surprised Mazda announced they'd produce a Mazdaspeed RX-8 so long before the RX-8 even reached production.

My local dealer isn't accepting deposits on the 8. As a matter of fact, I talked to a salesperson there about two months ago, and she said that the 8 won't be out until Nov. of '03. I spared her a tongue lashing and left. My dealer is stupid. They treat their customers like idiots and they are too proud of their inventory. I plan to trek to Dallas or Houston were the selection is better and the dealer is willing to do business. But I won't get an 8 until all the hoopla has cooled a little though. Still, silver with red leather inserts or pearl white with black for me.:p

MazdaSpeed RX-8 ?????

I haven't heard that one ??????

It would be miles away 2005 if your lucky. But I would say it won't happen. Did you ever see a MazdaSpeed RX-7 ???

Nope.

Why ? Its Mazda's Flagship and it will always be badged as Mazda reguardless of wether it was built by MazdaSpped or not. Also if it did go ahead it would Be called a RX-8 MPS to go with the Mazda6 and MX-5 I have heard about.

Regards

Re: MazdaSpeed RX-8 ?????

Also deposits we have been taking $5000.00 deposits from about October this year we only have 48 units arriving this year so its pretty popular thus far. Deposits are taken under the presumption of a favourable test drive.

We got the New Mazda Bounty (mazda Ute) last week with the new Freestyle doors

Mazda has stated that they will produce a MazdaSpeed version and that it will be available after the initial release of the 8. Since you seem to be new and sound like a dealer you should do a search on it. It sounds to me like mazda does not keep its dealerships in the loop as I knew more about the 8 than anyone at my dealership did.

Your right I am a dealer.

However I have had 4 RX-7's from the time I was 17 and currently have a 92 Type R FD and a 99 RS FD.

So I am not some guy telling you how it is I was just expressing how it doesn't really make sence to Make a MazdaSpeed Version straight away.
I would say there will definately be MazdaSpeed bolt ons for it but like the Rx-7 I think you might find it stays as a Mazda product for its initial years. Only when sales taper offf then a new teaser version will be released.

I did a search and found nothing so A link would be great so I can stand corrected if my thoughts are wrong.

I had to talk my dealer into taking my $500 for a deposit and get MSRP. Another dealer wanted the deposit and $1000 over MSRP.

Heya Maestro -- I was at SevenStock 5 at Mazda's US R&D facilities a few months ago. Some Mazda big cheese spoke a bit about the RX-8 there, and one of the things he said was that a ~300hp Mazdaspeed RX-8 is coming after the standard version. He didn't say exactly when, however.

I don't think it's a stretch, given how Mazda branded the new turbo Protege a Mazdaspeed. I think they may be latching onto that name for their more serious performance models now.

I'd think that the next RX-8 would be under the MPS name, since they released the Mazda6 concept under that...

Besides MPS seems cooler anyhow..

Okay, that does it, I have to ask what exactly MPS means now. Since coming here I thought it was interchangeable for MazdaSpeed but I never could figure out why the P was there. So, commence enlightening. :p

Mazda Performance Series.

I'd rather have a teeny MPS sticker on the back just like the "M" badges on BMW instead of the bulky Mazdaspeed logo

I saw this one crazy deal on ebay at one point....
the auction was to get on a waiting list or something to be the FIRST to get an Rx-8.... without an authentic msrp price out yet..
auction bid was up to like $500s I think.... and the deal was dat once Rx-8 launches..... you will be one of the first to get a Rx-8 but will also have to pay $5,000 over MSRP!

some ppl are just impatient
