My credit union auto negotiator sent me this
Hi Peter,
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I called my dealer here in Minnesota and he said there is not any rebates right now. There is $2,500.00 in lease cash only. The new rebates will come out tomorrow. He did a locate and found very few automatics out there. Your price on the sport package car would be $26,284.00, on the Grand Touring is $31,385.00, and on the Touring is $30,339.00. The rebates in your area may be better. Keep me posted on what your thoughts are.
Thanks
Steve
hmmm
somehow I think he is not negotiating hard enough considering some of you are getting 32-34MSRP cars for 24-26K.

Jeager- where in MN are you? I bought mine from morries at $5k off ($6k off w/gerber & zoom zoom) a month or so ago- but it was a huge hassle. Walser is advertising $4,000 off. I think Polar has them for about $4k off too. Walser won't negotiate, but you could drop by polar or morries (I hate to give them business, but it might be worth a shot anyway) and just say you'll buy for $5k/$6k/whatever off because you know other dealers are offering that price and see what they say.

RX-Aight just scored big getting ~$6,000 off MSRP on a 2005 (good job RX-Aight).
However, at different dealerships your mileage may vary. I'd say the credit union negotiators are one thing to try, but you should try several (cars.com and autotrader.com are good ways to search up dealer leads if you're willing to search a couple hundred miles out).
In the meantime, tell your credit union -

This is all I did to get the deal:
I searched mazdausa.com for the vehicle I wanted within 100 mile range. Found 3 I liked. Called and asked to speek to someone in Mazda sales. Talk to the person for a minute and told them I was working with other dealers in the area on the RX-8 but wanted to "explore" other options.
So I gave them my phone number and aked to get the miles do a once over and make sure no one had slammed a door into or anything like that and said: " I want you to call me back and give me you BEST deal on this vehicle."
This dealer asked what deal they would have to beat. So to minimize the hassle and calling around I told them that I was offered 7K off sticker.
They called back 10-15 minutes later and told me 25,900.
The only other place I called was not as willing to help; They only offered me about 4K off. But the sticker price on that one was about 34,600
Hope that helps. And make sure you ask them what their Doc fees are... Mine was 299 plus tax 3%
I asked this place for an "out the door price" = vehicle, tax, tag, doc fee.
They actually messed up and forgot to quote in the tag fee of $79.00 so I didn't have to pay it. My out the door price actually changed from when I called and when I got there so be careful. Don't let them pull one over on you!
