Price of Rx-7
Anyone have an idea if the current price of the rx-7 will drop once the rx-8 is released? I'm 19 and an rx-8 is a bit pricey for a first new car...I've decided ill go with the rx-7 if i can find one in my area in good condition.

if it'll be your first RX car, I would suggest you stay away from it unless you've a lot fo time doing maintaince work yourself, it does take a lot of time and possible money to keep it perfect...
otherwise, bit the bullet and get teh NEW car...at leaset it has full warrantee

As nice as that would be, I doubt it. The RX-7 is a completely different car from the 8, and has already proven to be a collector. I do't think you're going to see prices dropping on them any time soon, especially since they don't even make them in Japan any more. Maybe in a few years when the next RX-7 comes out, you'll see a bigger drop.

Probably not. The 300zx didn't go down in price when the 350z came out, the VR-4 didn't go down in price when the evo 8 came out, etc.
Also, if just buying an FD is a financial stretch for you, the you probably won't be able to afford to keep it running.

The prices of the 300ZX, and other like cars, were being inflated at the time the 350Z came out by "Fast and Furious". At the same time, there was a significant gap in years between the last 300ZX ('96, IIRC), and the 350Z ('03), which would significantly lessen the effect. As opposed to when the 300ZX replaced the 300Z.
But since the RX7 and the RX8 are also signficantly different (one's a pure sports car, while the other is more of a sports-sedan), and since there is a significant gap in years between the last RX7 ('95) and the RX8 ('04), I don't see any drop in prices other than the fact that they'll be a year older.
