this thread is kinda on the off side.. this is not even an rx-8 discussion, it should be under general automotive.... common people... anyways, a honda fit is new, thats why its 16k, the rx8 used is around 19k, whats the difference? the condition... new cars are more expensie than old cars (some exceptions)... would be like saying, hey, why is the rx7 cheaper than a new civic si? common now...

I didn't read thru the whole thread here on the topic but i will chime in about buyers being educated.
I would assume most of us here actually researched the car online (i did for 2 months) im sure 90% of us all know about invoice price, edmunds.com, and various negotiating tactics.
If it's one thing in general "the public" is, it sure isnt educated. My sister is the perfect example. She's younger then me, has no job is married to a loser and lives in a very fucked up trailer, yet i just found out she somehow went out and bought a loaded Chevy Trailblazer SS, starts at $37,000 and goes up. She said she was going to go out and "just look" but wound up buying the FIRST day she went looking. Of course she owed $13,000 on her perfectly good almost new Dodge Neon, even after a trade in she was $7,000 in the red to the dealership BEFORE she bought this car.
I have a nice job and make very good money but even I wouldnt go out and just go almost $50,000 into debt because I was bored with my current car. My sister is the perfect example of how "educated" the public is. (no she didnt haggle, she doenst know invoice price, probably doenst even know how to spell invoice). Of course she just signed 5 miles of paper saying they own her soul due to the credit they extended her.
The market will charge as MUCH as it can get away with to this so called "educated" public. Thats why some or most of us here can research, know what we want, know what it costs go in and get the deal WE want and not deal with the over-priced bullshit most others walk into and happily agree to, JUST to get a shiny new pair of keys.
Educated public? haha not in the United States of America.

I agree with the above. It is a supply and demand issue. No dealerships are selling them close to invoice if even MSRP.

you are right I don't - she's the black sheep of the family... treating my parents like crap (literally like the kids you see on Jerry Springer) she moved out, ditched school, hung out with drug dealers, and then after ******* up moved back in because her "friends" ditched her after a few months.
