Problem With An Engine Oil
Hi everybody, I am new in the club. Please help me, I have a problem with the engine oil. It's so thick and it is a cappuccino color. I just went to dealer and asked and they said it's ok. But I just wanted to make sure about that. Does the oil supposed to look like that?
Thank you guys for the help.

Define....
How do you define "thick"?
Did you change it?
What was the temperature?
You say it's "cappuccino" colored....why do you think that is bad?
Did you expect it to stay "golden"?
Are you judging by the look of the drips on the dipstick?
...enquiring minds want to know!

As long as it's not black and there are no particles floating around in the oil it should be fine. Just make sure you are checking the level of the oil every so often, adding more if necessary, and changing the oil every 7500 miles.
I use Valvoline Synpower 5W-20, and it is already kind of thick and cappucino-colored...

Did you just buy this car? New or used? Mileage? Is the oil due to be changed? What brand is in there (or is it factory oil in a new engine). What's the level? Any foaming problems? Do you have the new dipstick? Was the engine cold, warm or hot when you found the oil thick?
Many of us check our oil after the engine has been warmed up and then shut off for a few minutes - for instance, after filling with gas at the gas station. Weather has been about 0F some mornings here. If I checked my oil at 6am before starting the car to go to work I'd probably classify what I found on the dipstick as a solid rather than a liquid. After driving around for a while it seems fine.
If you're really worried that your car is in jeopardy - fish out $30 and pay the dealer for an oil change. If they just changed your oil and that's what your dissatisfied with, demand their service records and see what they put in it. If they can't prove they put Mazda approved 5W20 talk to the service manager and make them change it again.
In the meantime - I recommend some background reading. We discuss oil at lot on this forum, you'll pick up a few things reading in the tech section. Jump right into this one to start: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/rotarygods-rotary-oil-tech-blog-69805/
