When I shift into 5th gear above 50mph I get a slight grinding or notching . I took the car to the dealer, they said that they are unable to replicate the problem, which is bull becuase I have had 3 people able to replicate it over and over again. The service guy also told me that a notching will happen and that it is completely normal.

I highly doubt that the problem that I am having is normal. I am thinking it has something to do with the syncro, but I could be horribly wrong. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any ideas what it could be caused by?

 

I was having a grinding problem with 5th gear also, but with me, it was mostly due to it being the furthest gear from the driver's seat on the shifter (so that I started to release the clutch just before I had it fully in gear). Make sure you're not doing the same.

 

Ive done it with the clutch fully in and tested 3 or 4 times and it still does it. I wondered that myself so I tried =D
