Problems shifting

I want to find out what percentage of RX8 owners on here are seeing problems with their clutch..

The common symptom is not being able to get into the shifter into gear.

I have not experienced the issues others have had.

In fact, with 4,000 miles on her, I've begun to notice the shifter is ever so slightly loosening up when I choose to shift without the clutch, which is good.

Shifting from 1st to 2nd. Under heavy acceleration only.

2 out of 2 times it wouldn't go into 2nd from heavy acceleration. The first time, I just coasted until I found a gear, cuz I knew it didn't get into 2nd. The second time kind of fooled me & I let out the clutch & "ground a pound". Ouch! :o

I had a list going in another thread. Last time I checked, there were 7 people that have experienced this same problem.

Glad you started a polling thread on this topic.

I'm happy to report that further testing of my car has been very positive.

3 or 4 times, I took it all the way to 9k @ full throttle & found 2nd gear, no problem.

However, I didn't ****** it like I was doing before when I had the problem, working the clutch as fast as you can say "in-out", where the tach needle doesn't fall below the 7k rpm's for 2nd gear while shifting. I mean fast shifting.

I was not slow either, just a good bit more deliberate, working the clutch as fast as you can say "in-shift-out". And 2nd gear was there without a doubt, no problem, and it felt nice.

I'm not sure yet. I've quick shifted every car with a MT that I've owned & then some. I've never had a bad shift twice in two attempts. Right now, my guess is that she will do it fine & that I just ran into two bad shifts in a row. I'll know for sure soon, when I work it up to the speed that I know it should be able to do. Haven't gone there yet since the 2 bad shifts. I'm working up to it.

I'm only having trouble getting into reverse. Luckily, I don't drive in reverse often.
