Proud driver of an 04
I'm not sure if it is normal, but I am completely addicted to this car.
I got it with a grand touring package and I can't get over how it feels.
Of course, my previous car was a Jeep Wrangler, so It might just be the massive difference switching from a suv to a sports car, but It feels like the car was custom tailored to my needs. It's fast, but not too fast, it corners well, and it gets attention everywhere I go.

its black.
One thing I dont understand, I've looked around a bit and a lot of people say that this isn't a good performance car.
The other day an 03 or 04 mustang gt pulled up and, not knowing what it can do and wanting to find out, I decided to drag him.
we went a little over 2 blocks and he was behind me the whole time.
I thought it performed well, but like I said before, my previous car was a jeep.

The car does feel good. When I get in its like you put it on - like its a perfect fitting leather jacket.
By the way, did you get it new (I got my 04 new in November)? And did you "learn" about it before you bought it? Do you live where its cold (you'll need winter tires)? Do you know how NOT to flood it? Even those things I found cool.
Best to ya!

It doesn't snow much around here, and I did learn a little about it before I bought it (test driven only, not brand new, but new to me) Also, I don't know how to not flood it, but any information on it would be great.

It is a decent performance car, and if your a good driver than it's good performance car. What you may be refering to is the lack of response to mods.
Do a search in the aftermarket/performance section and you'll find out what adds power and what doesn't.

Bottom line on flooding is don't shut off the engine unless it is warm. For example, don't take it out of the garage to wash it and then shut it off. Its not a guarantee, but from the posts I've read its all too common. Good news is the dealer will pick it up and fix it. The bad news is you're stuck til then. The good news is the dealer will give you new style plugs and starter. The bad news is it could still happen again, but hey its such a fun car its okay!
And you don't need much snow! Just cold makes the tires hard and bumpy til they warm up. Any ice or light snow or really cold rain can be dangerous. Be really careful around 32 degrees and you'll see. I slid down my driveway the first time and knew it was true. The stock tires are "performance" summer tires. When I put my new winters on, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. It becomes a real snow car that you can trust.

really? the second day I had it it snowed a little bit, but it handled exactly like it did without it.
Maybe I'm insane, but I've also had a higher mpg average than sticker.
Maybe mine's special.

jeep
dude. I too am a former jeep owner(94 wrangler rio grande w/ 3 inch lift and 33x12.5)i traded it in for my 04 manual tranny. I miss it more than anything i've ever given up my whole life. But how sweet the new ride is. I totally love my 8 just in a totally different way. And yes alot of the difference you notice does come from switching from the jeep but still there is no other car (in the same class and price range)that drives like the 8. The 50/50 weight distribution makes all the difference on a windy road. My only complaint is i don't get to drive it enough...only have 4,200 miles on it.

sorry, allow me to clarify.
powerful, but not too powerful (as in powerful enough for me, whilst saving me money on insurance, instead of having to pay more for a turbo.)
not too powerful as in Dodge Viper: the uncontrollable backbreaker.
