Proud new 8 owner
Hello all,
I just want to announce that as of yesterday I became proud owner of a sunlight silver MT/ T package. Although I was able to start the engine this morning (55 F), my fears of flooding still in the back of my mind. I started my 8 a while ago (65 F; three hours after I drove it) to show to my co-workers and the car did not started right away (after 30 miles highway driving). Dang! I thought that I got the engine flooded, but luckily it did restarted right away in the second try. What a relief! So I let the engine warm up all the way to normal temperature before I shut it off. Anyway, I really enjoy my 8 and knock of wood that no issues will come.
Cheers!

First of all welcome...I have the same color car and it's lovely. Secondly the rotary is a little harder to start then the piston so don't worry about that. We have all become flood phobic on this board and to a certain point it's justified but we all need to relax as most will never experience this problem(I hope).:D

I find that my 8 starts the quickest in the morning...about 1/2 a second. During the day sometimes it can take about 2 seconds of cranking to start but for the most part my 8 starts pretty quickly.
Congrats and enjoy your 8.

Thank you all for your response and the word of encourage to enjoy the car and not to worry too much. At least after reading the forum it gave me all the information to prevent beginner's mistakes. Indeed the silver is a lovely color eventhough right now is quite popular. In my case all the cars that I owned were silver... so I guess that it thend to stick with me. The other color that the dealer gave me was red. I like it as well but it was too much flashy for my taste. :D

Congrats on your new 8!
As another poster said, take good care of the car, but don't get so caught up in flood paranoia that you treat it with kid gloves. With reasonable precautions, flooding should never be an issue. Other than checking the oil every 1000 miles and never shutting the car down cold, I treat the 8 exactly like any other car I've owned and so far so good.
