Proud new owner in Oz
Hi all
I'm a proud new owner of a 2010 RX-8 GT in Sydney, Aus. Thought I'd say hi to everyone. You guys have a great community here. Though I'm not known to be a regular poster on forums, I do regularly read through and value the masses of information on them!
Little bit of background, while I wouldn't consider myself a noob, but I'm by no means an expert of any sort. I do have some history with a mate's RX-7 FC so I'm well aware of the ups and downs of the rotaries, and I was regularly reading these forums while I was doing my research prior to buying.
I've come from a 4-cylinder turbo and have done some driver training so I'd like to think I'm a sensible driver, and my intention was to go kinda from boy racer type car --> luxury sports, and I just couldn't go past the RX-8 for my budget. I've driven them before and though I already miss the torque, I'm super happy with the RX-8. Its remarkably well balanced, handling is brilliant, easy to drive and the revs just keeping going and going and going. Its like the car is begging you for it!
The one thing I don't get is why, when the rest of the world has the 3 standard models of the RX-8, Australia decides to have their own spec-d models. Would have loved a R3!
Yes, I know the RX-8s are going out of production, but that just meant that I got a better deal when buying mine (I doubt the Spirit R will come to Aus anyway)
Looking forward to every drive

The R3 model comes with a few additional accessories, like the bose sound system (only in our Luxury model) and a sat nav (only in our Sat Nav luxury), doesn't it? Most everything else is the same. Pity, would have loved those accessories, but either way still stoked about my ride
I got the car for around the 50k mark, with a thousand kms on the clock, and was a demo from the dealer. From what I've seen I thought that was pretty good for Aus pricing, but would be keen to know how much everyone else got theirs for! PM me if you want more specific details, happy to help in your search for a GT
