Im going the PTP route once they release the kit. Still havent seen to much more information regarding the ETA of delivery on these kits. Ive been holding off since im not a big fan of the greddy kit atm. Looks like i needs to save the extra 2g's for the HKS EMS Kit though. Well see. Keeping an eye out for more info.

5k for the kit, 2k for fuel management, 1k for install, figure another 500-1000 for gauges.

So 9k sounds about right...

i'm also waiting for more info on the turbo package.i'm new to the rotary engine, however i love the car.i guess my next question would be why the factory turbo coming out does not have as much kick as the PTP route?

heh. There is no factory turbo coming out, at least nothing confirmed.

secondly, mazda's factory FI usually adds on the range of 25-50 hp. So it would be hard for an aftermarket FI kit to make less hp.

It is definately more pricey, but puts out 2X what the Greddy Turbo does. From 5-7lbs of boost to a whopping 13lbs. I am sure it would be fun to try and keep the stock tires gripping unless you had the Traction Control or installed wider tires. Putting that much boost ionto the Renesis seems like a bad idea to me from what I have read by others on the forum. Would suck to spend $9K and only have a few K miles on your 8 before looking at a new engine. Just my thoughts and I have been wrong b4.....

You can get the new greddy turbo kits with ultimate for $3100. You can run 12psi on that it if you wanted. So it's not really fair to compare the untuned greddy kit with a tuned PTP one.

Usually tuning/dyno time costs another 300 or so.

All my local tuners charge 1k for install of the greddy kit. From what I've seen on the forum, thats the standard price for an install. Some have gotten $800, others a bit higher.

I'll be happy when more companies start supporting the 8 in the turbo realm. More companies make kits.. more compition.. which leads to lower price's to get us to buy them. Well atleast I can hope right?!

how much cheaper do you need it to go? GReddy's at 3k is a pretty good deal. I've seen a number of the kits being sold used for $1800-2000.

Well I aint made outa money and I havent found myself a sugar-momma yet so having some "decent" kits that wont bleed meh dry would be nice. If I remember reading the article of the PtP (its been awhile and dont feel like rereading) its past 5k for the kit and install. Just yeah ouch..! Be nice to have more obtainable mods. Please dont flame this statement ><! Again just be nice if more companies would start to produce kits.

you don't need to remember the cost of the PTP from the article, we went over it in this thread, just a few posts before yours.

As I said, greddy's is about 3k, you can get it used for around 2k. Install is 1k, so you can get it done for around three thousand bucks if you shop around.

My car is being installed at a shop, my total cost installed with everything i need is about 5k. I expect to get around 280 to the wheels (keeping in mind stock, the rx8 makes about 170-180 to the wheels). Boost will be 7psi. I'll think about raising it and getting larger injectors sometime down the road.

I like the turbo location on the PTP kit way more than where the Greddy one is, driving over a puddle after some hard driving could pretty much destroy the turbo. Plus I heard from Cam @ Petitt racing, that he has had some cars start their interior carpet on fire due to the extreme amount of heat generated by the turbo at that location.

No expert here but the Greddy seems like a waste.. Then again 6-8 K is alot for the PTP turbo!!!

I probably wouldn't get a Turbo. Just can't bring myself ot sink that much $$$ at once. But it seems the nitrous people are having better results quarter mile wise than the turbo guys. Maybe I would consider that.
