Q: Shinka resale?? Alcantara?

1. Are Shinkas showing any resale advantage over GT's ??
ie. do they get any more money when selling used? I'm betting they don't.

2. Do most people think of the Alcantara as superior to leather? Sorry, I haven't seen it yet. Sounds like our 'ultrasuede' couch.

TIA!
Expecting to ditch my GTI and 'join the club' very soon.... Color: whatever my wife wants if I can have one! Gray? Great!! Pink polka dots? well, OK! whatever will do it !!

Cheers
Pete

Shinkas don't sell better than GTs used, because SHinka owners don't sell their RX-8s EVER!!

Alcantra is not better or worse than regular leather, it is just different. some people like the all black leather, some like the racier red/black combination, and some prefer the more refined Sand leather/Alcantra combination. different strokes for diferent folks.

I got a 06 Whitewater Pearl Shinka, and couldn't be happier/ more pleased with it.

Shinkas are not selling any better than GT. There are a few Shinkas in my neck of woods and they are actually priced the same as the GT.

Shinka is just an options package now, and the original Shinka didn't sell any better than the other RX-8s and they were sitting on some lots for well over a year.

Its really a personal taste thing when comparing the Shinka vs a fully loaded GT. It also has a lot to do with whats available with the right options and your color preference. As far as alcantara goes I had 2 different Audi S4's, one with Alcantara and another one with regular smooth black leather. I liked the look of the solid black leather over the black with blue alcantara inserts, but the alcantara definitely held me in place around the corners better where the smooth black leather sport seats tended to allow me to slide around more in tight corners. Same car, same seat design, different seat insert materials with different results. There is a difference and thats the main thing alcantara has going for it in my opinion.

interesting notes, thx. I'll be checking out a Shinka tomorrow. See if we like.

Sounds like I'm on track on resale tho - I won't get back any extra money for a Shinka when I sell. Important for me because I'll probably only have the car for 2 maybe 3 years.

Its easier to get dirty, but you don't slide around as much. I do have the sand Alcantara seats and I love it.
