Question about the Shinka 8
My dads friend who owns a Mazda dealer just gave me a call and told me they have a basically brand new 06 Shinka. He told me they'd give me a good deal on it and he told me to check it out on the website. It's got the extended warranty to boot, so now I'm pretty interested in. My question is what's up with the interior?

Is it leather/cloth?

The Shinka interior is leather with Alcantra (sp?) inserts. The insert is kind of like a suade/cloth texture. It is really comfortable to me. I've also read from some that have driven this and full leather, that you stay centered in your seat easier with the inserts (no sliding in curves).

if someone owned it, its not considered "basically bran new" ... its used, doesnt matter if there 20 or 500 miles on it. someone owned it= used. tell that hustler 25k or nothing. i hustled my dealer on my 06 down to 22k from 28k, and i got a free spolier, oil change, and tank of gas.
Hustle on my friend.

Jan 10th of 06 I bought a new 05 w/300mi Grand Touring for $26.5k Thought it was a good deal, this is later into the next year however so should go for that/less than that regardless of whether its a Shinka. Keep in mind, for dealerships, car storage=$$, they have to get rid of it...
edit: Expect to see that fuel guage reading often haha

Brand new 06 Shinkas still on the lot have been offered to me and some other posters here at around $27,800. In my case it had the appearance package and this does not. New I think this car's market price is a little below $27k . Considering it's not new, but used with 500 miles, I would want to pay considerably less. How much less comes down to how much it's worth it to you to have this particular one, but imo I'd try for $23k before taxes (but be prepared for them to look at you like you're crazy, it's possible they invested too much into it themselves). The price they have on it is pure BS, they're just hoping someone dumb takes it.

i love my shinka seats they are really comfy. they are cloth in the middle and leather on the outside. the cloth actually has red underneath the cloth and you can see it through the holes in the cloth part.

The Alcantara inserts are nice. Its really not cloth, more like suede. It's what a lot of sports cars are coming with these days. Agreed with what was said before, it holds you a lot better than leather in the corners.

Last month a local dealer was selling 3 2006 new Shinkas (never licensed, less than 50 miles) for $25k. I saw them & test drove 1. They are new cars. There were several in the Chicago area about the same but I didn't see them. I understand the cars are more popular on the coasts than they are in snow season in the midwest. The car I bought is all leather & I preferred the leather/ alcanwhatever upholstery.
