Question for the English or Aussies
hello chaps / g'day mates,
I've got a question for yall. Pardon my ignorance, but on standard transmission cars with shifters to the LEFT of the wheel, what is the order of shifting? Is it also "reversed"? That is, is 1st at the top left and 6th the bottom right, or 1st at the top right and 6th at the bottom left? Just curious, know what I mean? Wink wink, nudge nudge. Say no more, say no more!
Sorry...I really ought to ease up on the coffee.
thanks!

1st gear is at the top left, 6th at the bottom right. Accelerator pedal is on the right too
Only need to remember to get in the passenger side and drive on the wrong side of the road when I drive in the US/Europe

the problem is...you get everything at once. Sitting on the wrong side of the car, shifting with the wrong hand, driving on the wrong side of the road. One at a time and it'd be a piece of cake. It took severe concentration not to crash into stuff with the left side of the car for the first couple of days that I was in the UK :D

Just imagine how much diversity we would have in the car market if 100 years ago every country had decided to pick the same side of the road.
Don't know how many times I've read about some Euro or American car with a kindling lust only to read that nasty little postscript at the end that there is no intention to produce it in RHD.

A friend once let me try his RHD MT car in Tokyo. Because I am right handed, I found shifting with my left hand a little difficult at first, but got used to it after a while.

Keeping the on-coming traffic on your near side just makes sense.

No wonder they call them the Virgin Islands. No one lives long enough to get laid. :D :D

I've only driven cars here in the US. But I also have driven right hand drive cars (manual) here in the US. The only prob I had was going through drive thrus and making a right turn at a corner. Although I know of a few drive thru where the drive thru windows is on the right side.
