Question.. give me opinions.
Some of you may know me some may not.. I have been a member for about a year and a half.
I have a little extra cash for a change ( tough to get with three daughters ) and i want to get some things for my ride. Really thinking about an accessport. Is it really that great of and add-on? I have read all the threads, been following things on this forum since i joined.
I guess my question is... is it worth paying $700 for a accessport versus paying $700 for several different items?
Thanks all...

The accessport gives you some great benefits but there's one element I'll warn you about at the end.
What I like about the accessport is being able to customize the RX8 the way you want it to be customized. I have my idle bumped up, rev limited at 9600 RPMs, fan speeds changed and OMP ramped up. I also like not having any emissions CEL's from my midpipe as I put up with a check engine light for 2 years.
The anti-theft and valet maps are a nice one in a while use. Other than that, the fuel and ignition tuning does make a difference in power and makes the car more fun to drive. In all, I think it makes you more involved with what's going on with your RX8.
Some people have told me that they were a little discouraged because the accessport isn't something you play with all the time. You're not switching maps constantly and unless you use it for logging or data displaying it pretty much sits in your glove box until you need it.
The misunderstanding is what exactly your paying for. The true cost of the AP is the power of the software that produces the tunes. The AP is just the delivery device. You're more or less paying for the ease of being able to flash the PCM with a custom tune.
I hope that makes sense. I'm 100% in favor of every RX8 owner having this device because you no longer have to depend on Mazda to make necessary corrections to your PCM and Mazda is bound by emissions laws and EPA regulations. In this case, you can run the car in a way which is best for the motor aka more oiling, better cooling etc.
Sure there's plenty of cool stuff you can buy for $700 but the AP is one of the better bangs for your buck.

Thanks for the reply's. Looks like you understood my question exactly Flashwing. Without ever seeing an AP its hard to justify in my ming $700 = AP versus $700 = body kit/exhaust/misc items.
