Question of If the MS8 comes out... then?
Okay before you flame the thread, this is operating under the assumption that sometime in the future, a year or whenever Mazda finally rolls out with a Mazdaspeed 8 that has some sort of forced induction.
My question is if/when this happens would people like me who have an 05 RX8 be able to purchase the parts for the forced induction that mazda slaps on the 8? Just like I did buying the mazdaspeed suspension? Or would they make it such where you literally have to buy the whole damn car?
To be 100% honest, I can't see myself waiting that long to "hope" they offer a MS8 FI kit... by then I plan to be either running with PTP's Turbo, Petit's SC, or AF's SC....
Just a random question I thought of.
Cheers,
Jeff

I don't think that even if it was do-able it would be worth it....If a MS8 ever does come out it will probally meet what seems like the industry "quota" of 300 hp ((350z, evo, sti)) .... at 300 hp I rather go with the AF unit or PTP's turbo.

i would rather have the axial supercharger if it gives out numbers like proposed... if that or something better doesnt come out by the time the ms8 comes out i will most likely just drop my 04 since the mileage will be probably in the 70k area and get the ms8

Even if this was so, I assume you are thinking Mazda will do the engine management also? TRD does sell sc kits for a lot of Toyotas. But as someone mentioned, the factory is generally the last place to look for a good SC/Turbo kit. They are ultra conservative and usually don't use the best parts. The only place where I can see Mazdaspeed with having an advantage is in selling actual rotary engine parts that no one else can, or cares to, manufacture.

the reason i want a SC is because they are instant boost on takeoff whereas if you are trying to get the biggest gain with a turbo they have to wind up because of the bigger diamater(sp?) unless u go twin turbo u can have 1 small for take off and 1 bigger for higher rpm. also i believe someone correct me on anything i have said that the torque gains from SC are higher and they are more reliable.

I would go with a SC just because of the even power output throughout the band vs. the punch of the turbo. Just makes since to match it with the smoothness of the rotary. I had read on Rotarynews about mazdaspped working with a SC instead of a turbo because of the port configuration on the Renesis.

The torque gains/powerband on the Greddy RX-8's are pretty flat - I've seen the term torque shelf thrown around this site in this respect. And the rest of this statement is so application dependent that what you're saying could or could not be true. Your torque and powerband characteristics will vary from GT28 to GT35 to GT42. Also, not every SC is instant boost. A centrifugal unit takes a very good part of the engine rpm range to get to full boost, the Greddy turbo does this at 3XXX rpms. The AFSC doesn't reach full boost, but is more linear than a centrifugal. A twin screw - like Pettit, Hymee - can give full boost near instantaneously, however.

I think Mazda needs to make a halo car. First we have Toyota's new Supra coming out in the next couple of years with possibly a V-10 or a V8 with hybrid tech.. Then we have the Nissan GT-R with 450hp. And finally Acura's next NSX which is gonna kick major ***. But Mazda so far has nothing in the pipeline for a tire-shredding exotic car for under $100k. Imagine if they made a 400hp 350lb/ft. RX-10 weighing in at 3000lbs. for around $65-75k. I guess the engine would either have to be bigger or have to have forced induction. But it would be amazing nonetheless.

I've only had two turbos to this point, but would like to try an SC this time around.

mazda's OEM FI kits are very conservative. The mazdaspeed miata only had 36 more hp. I would seriously doubt mazda would increase the rx-8 by 100 hp like some are claiming. I'd imagine 40-60 hp would be the likely range.
