Questions on My Soon to be rx8

Ok well my little story is that this will be my first car, but i have been driving for 1.5 years and doing so in mainly 240s. Its what my friends have. I myself would be getting a 240 but my parents wont let me. ( too old for their liking. ) So I'm looking at the rx8. The smart choice would be to go for a 350z since i plan on building a drift car but... i want something unique for the job. I have worked and saved enough money, with help of parents, to get an rx8 thats about 15k.

So first, i have found rx8s for 15k that are 05 sports with only around 25-40k miles. Now i know i have to check it out and maybe even bring a mechanic, but does this price seem at all reasonable ? I hope it is and theres not some secret problem with the car. ( lemon ?! )

2nd, I'm 6'3 1/2 and i heard that sunroof would do me no good, but am i going to fit in this car? And if its a tight fit then should i be fine if i get some new seats ?

3rd, Those of you who have modified your exhaust/headers etc, did you notice torque gains at lower rpms or much better throttle response? I Tend not to look at the HP gains of exhaust etc since they're so minimal. I ask this because my resources are somewhat limited from my 30 hours of 8/hour, and i need to find out what will give me the biggest bang for the buck.

And if any of you drift wit your 8 then tell me any pointers. I know a few but MY GOODNESS how hard it is to find info on the 8 and drifting. Too unique but i <3 it

If you read this and respond i thank you alot.

Be aware that if you're drifting, you'll be wearing a helmet, so why don't you stick your lid on and sit in one to see how tight it is. I think you'll definitely find the sunroof too intrusive for a guy your height.

Only minimal gains from exhaust and induction unless you go forced.

You have to sit in one to see if you'll fit. It's not just height; proportions matter.

I don't think there's much to be gained by changing the seat. See what you can find by searching. I remember some posts by Expo1 on changing the seat and mounting brackets. There was a thread a while ago about whether the seat could be relocated a little further back, but nobody came up with an answer.

If you just plan on drifting just gut it, get the feed 4.777 final gear, beef up the lsd (mazdaspeed, re-amemiya), adjustable suspension and just throw on a roll-cage. Unless it's gonna be your dd and drifter?

The price is good, I just bought my 04' Brilliant Black RX-8 GT MT. for $15,000. and it had 41,000 miles on it. so for the price, you cant really beat it.

Yea its going to have to be my DD. Else i would gut it.

Never mind what i said earlier. My info on the stock lsd was from a friends friend.
haha... read a bit more and see that the stock torsen breaks ? No mechanic yet but how does the LSD break. Guess i can look more into that since its rather important if i want to hold the car sideways.

suspension will be the 2nd 3rd thing i most likely will get done.

Thinking tein.

As for having to sit in one, yea i guess i should just go for that

Do it soon, before you get too focused. I thought I wanted a Miata, and fantasized about it way too long before sitting in one. At 6 feet, I didn't fit - at least not in a position that I could live with.

Put me in a funk until I discovered the 8. Wish I had ruled the Miata out sooner, so I could have enjoyed more pre-purchase anticipation of the 8.
