hi guy/girls well im in the market for a new car and the rx-8 is one of my choices. looking into a 6m/t. i loved the reviews magazines gave it and i love how it handles and looks. but i have some questions before i jump in and buy one.

1. how reliable is the new rotary engine. i know they relocated the ports to keep form overheating. im just wondering how long can i expect out of this engine.

2. i been reading around and i ran into flooding problems. that got me worried i don't want to get water into the engine. i don't know if its a problem for me i live in SoCal.

3. is it possible to add navigation after a period of time i had the car. like after i purchase the car and if i wanted to get it is it possible to get it added.

4. how is the bose sound system.

5. has anyone ever added a turbo out of this car. if not is it possible to get like 350 hp out of this car. (not to sound like a ricer im just wondering wut i can get out of this engine.)

well thats about all the questions i have. im looking in to the 6 speed standard. maybe with the navigation or the touring package. if that would help.

I have a few beers in me so instead of flaming him about the search feature I will answer his questions but this thread as troll written all over it .

1, If you maintain it past rotary’s have lasted over 200,000 miles but this is a new one so nobody really knows yet.


2, If you really have been reading around you would know “flooding” has nothing to do with water in the motor so me thinks this thread is just to mess with the board and start a flame war. Flooding is no longer an issue

3, Not the Mazda one but an after market one yes

4, I think the Bose is OK, not great just OK

5, Yes, but these are VERY custom cars. There isn’t a “off the shelf” system yet and adding a turbo makes question # 1 into a no answer. Also if reliability was such a concern why even think about an after market turbo?
