Quick general questions....

I'm the only person I know with an Rx8 that I could compare it to so I just wanted to see some things.

(It's an AT btw)

When I'm idling the car vibrates pretty hard I was curious if thats normal of if I should check like the engine mounts or something. It's enough to give me a headache but it's only when I'm idle no matter the gear(haven't checked neutral)

Also my left hand rear taillight has a LOT of condensation in it, my left has none, it appeared after a heavy 3 day storm but I noticed it before then too just not so heavy. I was thinking the dealer could replace it under warranty but would that do the trick?

Finally I was wondering how long I should let the car warm up before I drive it, I know your supposed to wait till it hit normal operating temp (inside the lines) but it seems to take an unreasonable amount of time and I'm normally in a hurry. I have to a highway or faster road right after I leave work and home but I try to baby it and not go above like 3 or 4k rpm. Any advise?

thanks to any who answer.

Is it under warranty? If so, take it in.

I never warm it up, I don't want a car I have to baby. Just take it easy until it is warm works for me.

i have a manual 06 and there is quite a bit of vibration from idle that smooths out quite a bit, what is interesting w/ the manuals is how much of the ideling and the tranny you can FEEL through the shifter

Tail light and headlight condensation is a fairly common issue and has been discussed here several times. Try to search on condensation. Most guys have it covered under warranty without a problem.

Where did you hear that you have to "warm up" before "driving"? That is absurd. Start, it, drive away, take it easy... below 4K maybe for the first few miles .. as you see the temp gauge come up, drive it normally. That should be no different than any other vehicle. The only thing to be careful of is to avoid turning off before it comes up to temperature.

The condensation issue, the dealer should take care of that. A few members have had that before. While your there have them take a look into the vibration . That don't sound normal.

I warm mine up for a couple of minutes . Thats not a problem , just dont turn it off, till it gets to operating temps... Plus dont drive it hard till it reaches those temps.

have you tried to reset ecu see if that works? +3 or 4 on the dealer for condensation.

cause our car is just like many other cars, especially the engine. I believe a lot of people recommend waiting because there is a lower flow of oil on start up due to emissions. Once the engine warms up it starts to flow the normal amount of oil. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Premixing DOES NOT help warm up the car.
Warming up is (partially) to make sure all the metal has expanded together. An oversized rotor (hot rotor) in a cold housing is gonna do damage. Premix or not

premix does nothing for the eccentric shaft and stationary gear lubing... plus it takes time for all the metals to expand into proper operating temperature

I never have and will never baby a engine. If you take it easy until it is warm, all car engines will be OK.

The idling could be the mounts, that's what mine was at first, then I had the same problem, and it ended up getting me a new engine. Do you notice any type of noise or loss of power when accelerating from a stop?

Taillight should be replaced for free under warranty...

I don't let me warm up unless it's really cold outside, otherwise I start it up and drive off. Granted it does idle for about a minute or so since I have auto-start and I start it as I'm leaving my apartment and since I get home late at night I have to park in BFE due to the parking sucking *** at my place...
