Quick Q about Early maintenance?

My 8 didn't come with the usual little book that goes in the glovebox - one's on order for me for free, but it's not here yet.

As I'm passing 1100 miles on the car, since I have no book to reference, I'm wondering if there's any early maintenance I should be doing? The only thing the guy said to me as I walked out the door was to bring the car back in a week or two for them to check my plugs, which I plan to do later this week.

Anything else?

If you bought it new with little to no mileage... follow Racing Beat's break-in procedure.

Check your oil level and top it off accordingly.

Yeah, I need to pop the hood and figure out how to pop the plastic cover off.

I've swapped the engine in celicas more times than I can count, but I can't get the cover off my RX-8 engine. Sigh.

The large cover in the center? With both hands, grab it on either side next to the front and pull up. The dipstick is on the driver's side - look WAY down to see it. Do it only under well-lit conditions or it'll be a pain getting it back in.

Also, do a search on "owner's manual." Someone posted a link on a downloadable .pdf owner's manual, but I'm too lazy to search right now.
