The higher octane numbers that you see outside the US are typically caused by the difference between rating systems. In the US the method we use to calculate "octane" PON (average of MON and RON) while MON or RON is used in many regions in Europe and Asia.

I use 89 from Wal*Mart since it's the cheapest around with their "Support Globalization Shopping Cards". They use 89/91/93, no 87 available.

In the case here (180 vs 240 miles per tank) maybe the DSC is malfunctioning? And braking the car unnecessarily?

I'm just gonna have to try it out myself then. There's been numerous posts about gas mileage being better with DSC off, and yet, there's been many that have rebuked the possibility...I'll drive the way I normally do, hopefully I'll come back alive

 

I get about 240-260 with DSC on. If someone gets much lower (like 180) then there's something seriously wrong that they need to get checked.

 

Yes, its tax free except for the road tax which is still very cheap. Down side is you don't have a say in what the government wants to do.

The ironic thing is other than petrol, other oil products (actually all products) are difficult to obtain. There's only one shop that sells synthetic tranny oil and another for synthetic 2T.

 

Engine mount, plugs, clogged filters, fuel pump??? Sorry can't help

Yea man, try and let me know what happens eh? I know for sure I had hard time getting 200 miles on full tank with DSC on, but recently just couple days ago i tried DSC off, and i got 240. So I don't know what other people believe or have had different experiences, but im saving lil bit of gas with DSC off, well not rly lil bit 60 miles is good for you health!!

 

Yea i thought actually it was my car eating up all the oil and burning all the fuel. So i went to the dealer to have the fuel pump and everything inspected, they said it was alrite, and told me that the fuel quality in LA, is what it was...
I kinda agree with them, cause of the shizznet they put in gas these days in CA. Besides that, my other car, FX35 is using up almost to the same amount of fuel as well. To think the Fx35 - and 350Z's having same engine, and my Fx burning 13MPG almost the same as my baby 8; makes u wonder bout the gas quality in CA.

 

Has anyone seen any difference in using the Ethanol blend AKA E85. Just curious since Kroger has signed a deal to use that at 800 fuel sites in Texas, it will be a little bit cheaper and wanted to know if anyone has run into problems with that.
