Racing an automatic...
well since roughly ~99.99% of you are all manual drivers does anyone have some tips on racing an AT off the line? My previous car was a '96 Grand Am so I never bothered, but now that I have a sweet *** car I'd like to know some tips / tricks I can do - even though its an AT.
Friend said I could hold break down and rev 2-3k RPM and then let go of break... Any other suggestions?

Thanks guys :P
I knew getting into this that buying an auto would mean I could never keep up with most manuals just wanted to know if there was anything an auto could do.

You could rev it up in neutral and SLAM it into drive, then watch your transmission fall onto the road beneath your car. You might get off the line a bit faster, but you wont win the race with a dead transmission.
Check out the AT section of the forums. There are some mods that can be done to make the automatic transmissions not quite so... anemic. Nothing you will do will ever match an MT.
If you are racing on the streets I swear to god I'll find you myself and steal the valve stems from your tires. The reason 8's don't get pulled over too often is there aren't a lot of people in them doing INCREDIBLY STUPID **** like street racing. Take your car to an autocross event. I promise that you will have WAY more fun there, and you wont have to worry about getting arrested and having your car impounded and crushed.

Its a 6AT... and yes, I figured I would get flamed for startin this thread lol.
Going into manual mode and using the paddle shift lets me get a little more pull before the shift.

On second thought. Just rev it to 7K and neutral drop it. It will solve this problem once and for all.

You don't get it, do you? Racing on public roads is too stupid. WAY too stupid. Give me the keys to your car before you kill yourself, or more likely some innocent bystander. DO. NOT. STREET. RACE.
