Racing Beat VS AEM Intakes

Racing Beat VS AEM Intakes
been lookin over some cool air intakes, mainly for the sound. from what I gather, the best seem to be racing beat and aem. from what I can tell, racing beat only sells one that has a housing over it to reduce sound (which is really the reason I want one) and aem's intake, while putting the intake in an area with the greatest amount of cool air, is in a position to take a massive hit of water on a rainy day, while also being a slight obstacle to the radiator. was lookin for some input as to which y'all prefer.

I like the look of the AEM but RB is better.
My reason:
AEM uses a cone filter at the end. Racing Beat does to but they have the cold air intake duct. The duct is position so that when in motion, air is being pushed into the duct as oppose to the AEM.
If you dyno the Racing Beat REVi intake then the numbers will be incorrect because there are no air being forced into the intake duct as oppose to driving.
Now there are going to be a lot of people who will ague against this saying it's not true and such but that is just what I believe in.

I've been running the AEM with a lot of success. It's tubing is the exact shape of the OEM intake tube so it won't mess with your fuel trims at all.
The cone filter doesn't obstruct the radiator or any airflow. If you have the stock grill cover then you shouldn't have much issue with rain water. My filter gets wet from time to time because I have the grill removed with wire mesh in its place.
Not sure about sound, I was looking more for a replacement to my crappy K&N.

I've had both. Let's just say I'm using the AEM now...
confused at what this is trying to prove...
all the duct does is provide cooler air to the intake.. something the AEM already does because of its position.

think he's referring to this...
http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtnumber=18298
it is supposed to allow air to be rammed into the intake while the car is in motion

I have the RB intake & Duct reason I bought it was the clean look and the water issues AEM/MS owners have reported, also I live in canada and drive my 8 almost all year except on the worst days of winter. WOT is the only time you hear a real difference.

I have a 'hybrid'. The Racing Beat Duct mated to my stock intake which contains a K&N flat filter. I of course removed the VFAD.
I get the "ram air" of the RB duct, the high pass of the K&N, and the relative quiet of the stock box, not to mention the cost savings.
But as we know, the intake style is really more about desired volume/tone than Hp gain, so go with the sound you like.
Now your tally is 1-1-1

I had the lovely weapon r short ram intake (junk) which ran so hot I lost power. If it was 60*F out the AIT would be about 100-150*F (for that matter any temp out), my AEM runs 3-8*F mainly 5 above outside temps.

I'm with Huey, RB duct + K&N filter and removal of vfad. I'm not to concerned about intake sound. Maybe some day I might try the AEM CAI but for now there are plenty of other mods that need more attention than a expensive intake with minimal gains.

Racing Beat all the way.
I don't have to worry about the cone being exposed to the elements, water getting sucked into it, and the RB duct helps get tons of air to the box.
As an added bonus; it even sounds great.

Alfy you sure that the RB gave you those performance gains?? I swear it was the Quad Electric Turbo that plugs into the DC outlet that gets more boost when the radio turns up.

+1 for rb plus duct. i love it - can feel it pull harder in the upper rpm's, and has a sweet 'whoooooosh' sound over 6k. below 6k is sounds pretty normal though. sound is good, but if you want LOUD, go with aem, that seems to be a bit louder throughout the rpm band.
fyi - the rb duct looks WICKED MEAN behind the ms front bumper
