Ran 87 Octane

Ran 87 Octane
i was reading on the boards about people running it, some with success some without.
so i got a bottle of octane booster and ran my tank to E, put $10 of 87 in and it ran fine and even idled a tad better, i gunned it up to redline and it was extremely smooth and cruised fine in 6th gear. so i ran that out and filled my tank with 87, only a $5 or $6 difference btw compared to 93. but i managed to get 153 miles at half a tank, im at half a tank now with 93 octane and am sitting right at 93 miles...ran them the same way, redline it on the entrance ramp, then cruise highest gear possible till im out of gas
so take what you want from this, im in Houston, TX btw.

Couldn't be that you have misjudged the 'halfway' point on your gas gauge?
....or are you really claiming that you got 60% more mpg from your 87 octane fill-up?

The gas gauge is inaccurate. You cannot estimate the real consumption based on that.
Only when you fill up again (and know how many miles you drove since the last fill-up) will you know your exact fuel mileage.

i didnt know they were inaccurate lol ive just been guessimating by taking my trip meter and dividing it by 8 when i reach half a tank. i know its off but i ive been getting my rough estimates from that method
im by hobby btw

I'm not calling you a liar, I'm saying that your methodology is flawed (using the fuel gauge, presuming you are driving exactly the same and under the exact same condions.)
