Ran over a bag
I ran over a plastic grocery bag while on the freeway a while ago. When I got home I noticed a smell so I looked under the car and the bag had melted to the outside of the cat, I removed as much of it as I could but it has been a couple of weeks and it still smells. Should I try to scrape it off or just wait until it burns all the way off?

I am a meat popcicle
Oh crap! That happened to me once a long time ago (different car). I was sitting at an intersection stopped at a light, and the bag wafted by. When I got to a friends house I smelled something, and realized that it stuck to my cat... I mean, the whole freaking bag. It sucked. Took off as much as I could, but I didn't scrape it. I should have though. The smell lasted for weeks.
If it were to happen to me again, I'd scrape off as much as I could just for sake of my nose (and the noses of others around me).

The same exact thing happened to me the week i bought my car.
I was driving down the highway and there was a thick ice bag being tossed throughout the air ahead of me. The bag went under my car and I didn't see it come out from behind. I presumed that the bag was stuck in my front grill so no big deal. 45 minutes later, i get out of my car and I smell the horrid smell of burning plastic. I looked under my exhaust and the plastic bag was melted on.
The smell lasted probably 30 more days. Now there is just a black spot on my exhaust.

I've hit roadkill and plastic bags.
Both took months to burn off.
There is nothing more fun than scraping cooked raccoon guts off of your midpipe.
Even now, nearly a year later, I still have a lot of the plastic bag on my exhaust system.

I ran into a plastic bag once... but somehow it got behind my bumper (not on the 8) and covered a good portion of the radiator. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why my car was overheating.

FREE ADVICE!
As hot as the undercarriage of the 8 gets, avoid any plastic bags like the plague. Also, if they're sucked up into your intake, it can disrupt the cooling characteristics of your engine.
So if you see one go under your car, it would be wise to safely pull over when you can and check.

Whenever I see stuff flying across the road, like plastic and paper, I do everything I can to avoid them going near my car and especially under it. That stuff is notorious for getting stuck on the front of your car, getting sucked in, or getting stuck underneath just like the OP suffered.
One time in an older car, I ended getting a plastic pylon stuck underneath my car.
