I don't get the sarcasm coming from some people...I don't know why I would lie just to get feedback about that link, my buddy is the one who sent it to me.

A moderator could close this thread, you guys are just ranting on about some other stuff. Thanks anyways for the few who said their cars are fine..etc.

If the problem is not enough oil being injected, why is carbon considered to be the issue? It would seem that carbon would signify too much oil. Not enough ought to bring about seal wear and scuffing of the epitrochoid. Same confusion over the oil being too thin.

as for the post counts remark

yes i dont have a very high number of post counts... i usually dont post anything unless the search button doesn't yield results.

as for that being said i guess post counts mean integrity so i suppose i should start making unnecessary comments on every thread?

You purchase a RX-8, upload the pics of the new vehicle, title, registration, proof of insurance, and I sir, will not only apologize, I will personally send you $50 via paypal to your account, and I will never post here again.

Looking forward to your new car purchase thread.

Why give the guy such a hard time? If he did search he would have found plenty to worry about. How many threads are there about people getting new engines? Plenty. Do other car companies engines fail? Sure they do. But it seams like too many of you get all bent when some asks the question. Is his friend an ***? Maybe, but it looks like he just sent him whatever info he found. I have a 2001 Acura cl-s auto. Did they have tranny issues? You bet. If someone asked me about it I would just tell them my tranny gave me no problems, but there are plenty of other owners who have had theirs replaced, some more than once.
OP, if you want an RX8, buy a newer one and have it checked out, just like you should on any used car you buy.
And he came here asking questions before he bought. If he bought then came here and bitched you guys would rip him apart. Just can't win.

I think some of you guys are missing the point. There's a lot of reason's people come to this forum - but one that seems to stand out the most is for information. There's a wealth of it here. We flame people for not searching because countless people before you have research THE EXACT SAME **** YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. We spent our time researching things for others and reporting back everything we've gathered for what? so some new guy can just come by and ask THE EXACT SAME ****??

You telling me that wouldn't get you frustrated??? I know i've PERSONALLY gone out and spent my time on gathering information for this forum and it just pisses me off (just like other members who have done this) when someone comes along and wastes it. If you have the time to sit and ask - you have the time to sit and SEARCH.

Missing the point . . .

When a member has one post and it is offering a testimonial it will always cause a red flag. Most times, a new member will have posts that amount to questions +/- introductory threads/posts.

A post count of 1 or 2 screams troll - especially in a thread like that where suddenly people are signing up to post about their "experience" which just so happens to be negative.

Could be it's all true, but nobody in their right mind will believe it.

(Not that I need to answer for Ken, but I do know he places no value on post count. So I have gone ahead and deduced that you misunderstood his point.)

for starters, i dont think ppl are losing their sleep over his question. i think y ou are the only person who took other remark seriously.

2. reason why ppl gave him a hard time, is one if the guy was serious with his question wouldnt you think mazda would of have billions of law suit if their rx couldnt live pass 50k?

3. you are right, all cars of have problems, but engine could of failed due to owner error. not saying all the engines that have been replaced was due to the owner,

but we dont know the full info on why the engine failed. all we get is a thread saying, Guess what , my engine died and i am getting a new one. we dont get a thread saying, guess what, i didnt do this or that, so my engine failed.

4. if he really thought the engine died at 50k miles, wouldnt rx8 section be full fo threads named my engine died at 50

i love trolling forums just like any other person does. but you have to troll wiht out insulting the community and the car th ey drive. . not saying he was troling, just saying his question was pretty dumb.

Not your post count or the OP's post count. The post counts in the thread on the forum cited. See dmc27's point. A first post with a huge statement, followed by several other first posts corroborating, tends to smell. Why did someone with no prior presence on that site choose to make his post? Why did all those lurkers (to give them some benefit of doubt) suddenly come out of hiding?

dmc27 is also correct that I put no value on post count. I'm embarrassed by mine being as high at it is...I should really spend more time watching TV or playing solitaire. Your count is just fine. As Charlie Chan said, "Two ears, one mouth. Should listen twice as much as speak."

The OP managed to step into a sensitive topic that's been asked a lot and has no definitive answer. IMHO, there are two ways to seek enlightenment on that issue. One is to look at Consumer Reports ratings and reliability survey results. The other is to spend a lot of time browsing old posts here and try to make sense of what you absorb.

IMHO, buying a sports car usually carries more risk than a regular car. Just decide if you want one and whether you can live with the financial risk, or the risk of your mother-in-law saying "Why didn't that bum buy a decent car?"

Ken

but there is a stipulation to that rule, if you test drive another car while your car is still in working condition then you detuct 200 miles per post and at which point when you sell your car you have to give PUP your BHR coil upgrade

Correct, and if you see a Crossfire, you lose 1,000 miles. If a Crossfire or 350Z takes off the line faster than you, you lose 5,000 miles.

If a riced-out civic pulls ahead of you, it's a 10,000 mile loss (+500 if it's got a fart can exhaust, and +10 for each HP sticker), and if a prius beats you, your engine detonates.

All of these happen only if you make a post within 24 hours of the event(s), except for the Prius one, that's instant.
