Rant=Cops

I'm being tailgted & followed. Stoped this weekind for going through two red lights! I ask the officer if I went through a red light how how come he didn't stop me at the first light? "I was too far back and in traffic and couldn't catch you" How can someone tell if you went through a redlight from 200+yds behind traffic? I am guilty of going past one yellow light but no red lights. Thank for hearing my rant

Yeah it sux... I have watched some COPS episodes where they will follow someone and let them committ several traffic offenses before pulling them over and write them up for all at once...

Pretty sure if he was citing you on items that occured while you were in your own driveway, you can file a report on him. You don't even need license plates (or insurance, or whatever) on your own private property, as far as I know.

I've seen the Highway Patrol holding up traffic in the fast lane of the freeway right at 65 mph...when they change lanes to the right the first car that passes them will get pulled over. At this point whenever I see a cop behind me I go to the slowest lane possible and wait for them to pass.

Seen that happen. I've also seen cops tailgate people on the highway to get them to speed up and then pull em over.

I was pulled over last night for going 32 through a 25 in a toll both lane, and for having a tinted license plate cover.....The cop let my go though with a verbal warning...He told me he had a MS3 with 390whp which chirped through 4th. He also told me he has been stabbed, shot at, gunned(spitting of the *****), etc.

He was cool as ****.

I remember a really chickenshit move on one episode of COPS. They had a stakeout on a drug dealer. They saw a customer, on foot, buy stuff. Rather than arrest him immediately, they followed him until he got back to his car. Then they were able to confiscate his car along with the arrest.

As a cop in training, I can tell all of you...don't believe what you see on COPS the TV show! We are show COPS episodes to be shown what not to do. Those of you who got pulled and cited, sux to be you. I had been that situation before...what you may think is a legal stop most likely is. Some cops like to find a traffic law that most others would never pull anyone over for, but it is officer discretion in all cases.

Look up your state law and you will learn a few things. Not trying to be rude but people need to start learning some things before they decide to comment on this forum. Seems to me everyone on here knows more about what cops can't do as apose to what they can do.

I hate cops, I was driving like I normally do, ignoring pedestrians, running red lights, and doing 60 mph over the speed limit and the cop gave me a ticket for just driving normally! /sarcasm

That happens a whole lot I'm noticing. Everybody seems to think they know the law and what not, when they are just going off what their friends brothers girlfriends dad said.

I think Renesis' post says exactly how some people think. Not my opinion of what they think but from I have read here lately. Don't get me wrong, some cops do things they shouldn't do. But then again, everyone does in every profession. Bottom line is if one does the speed limit and follows traffic road signs then nobody will have anything to gripe about when it regards cops giving someone tickets.

This happened to me.. Cept, it was raining at 11PM, no visibility so didn't have a clue who the ******** tailing me was..

Sped up to 18 KM/H over (21 KM/H + doubles your fine, he waited a long assed time, but I didn't speed up anymore).

Cop never showed up to court

You sure the cop was not following close so he/she could run the tag and see if there was an issue with the vehicle or driver?

Some cops are cool and know the difference between safety and hassling people for very small reasons.

Cops that use their power to enforce the law to mess with people give all police a bad name. Some people are just dick heads... maybe they're smart because they picked a career where being a dick to the people you serve won't get you fired or out business like it does to nearly everyone else in the private sector.

Most of the cops I've had run-ins with have been pretty cool. Stuff like speeding (once I was going 16 over in an area I knew cops were, so I deserved it; another time, he let me off with a warning after giving my friend **** for being from this other part of town) and moving violations (illegal u-turn, though he just wrote me up for not having my front plates since I didn't know the area). On the flip side, I had to deal with this one ***** once--a real jerk that looked and acted like that dude from Reno 911, with the short shorts and all. It's hit or miss, I guess.
