Now I know there are physical requirements to be in the police force, so I am pretty sure eyesight is one of the things on that list. I can think of no reason a police officer has to be 2 feet off my bumper to read my plate. Now I don't know how fast the computers are in the cars, so if they are still 56k I could understand why it takes them 5 miles before they decide to move to a different lane and pass me. I am pretty sure (at least around here) it is only one or two officers who feel a need to show their ***** size in this manner, but still it gives the rest of the law enforcement community a bad name.... which is really too bad.

I had a cop tailgate me down a mountain in a snow storm going to see my dying grandmother. He got right up on my ***, so I brake checked him and he slid right off the road ( my in my rx8 with the potenzas harder and slicker than hell when it was cold and he had a older 4WD jeep cherokee ). I kept right on going. He deserved it. I made it there just in time to see her for about half an hour before she died.

I'm cool with most of the cops around here and I do a lot of work with the fish and wildlife guys. The one time I got a ticket and didn't deserve it I made a phone call and got it taken care of, and even got a apology out of the a$$hole cop who wrote the ticket. It helps to know the right people.

i always wondered what eyeballing really meant. what makes you think they were eyeballing you? i think those instances it's all in the person's head and they were probably looking at all the cars the same way to make sure everything was on the up and up.

2 feet? Not sure if that was the case or not to what I responded to but in any sense 2 feet, I would think, is a little close. I am no *** by any means and use common sense and professionalism at work so I have a hard time believing cops do what people say they do on here. I would never do something that is immoral by any means to anyone. With that said, remember I drive the same car others do on this forum and not once have I ever been stereotyped, picked on, singled out or have had anything done to me by any law enforcement officer/deputy that was wrong while driving my car. I don't know any cops that would do anything to anyone that resembles what people's stories indicate on this forum. My agency employees some standup guys/girls and can't imagine anyone tailgating a car in order to get them to speed up and ticket them. You know how one fixes that? Don't speed up!

I do have people that mis take what I or other cops do sometimes and it clearly shows they had attitudes about what occured because they were pissed because they got caught. I have seen people give me attitude because they got a ticket form something Ray Charles could have seen them do. Point is that only a clear level-headed person receiving a ticket will understand what thet did wrong. If they are ignorant to the fact then they will just get butt hurt over it and rant.

If someone's never worked or knows anyone that works in a certain industry/occupation, whenever they are displeased with the place or agency, even if it's within the protocol of the job requirement, they will rant.

Police is one of the more common examples, along with waiter/waitresses, airline industry, car dealerships, etc etc.

People used to complain to friends and family. Now they complain on the Internet.

All I ask of an officer is to be fair. Treat everyone the same. If someone breaks the law its their fault. Dont single someone out for what he or she drives. One officer called my car a "Cop Magnet" and said "What do you expect you got an RX8!" Heck I'm 50yrs old and just enjoying my mid-life car :D

Yeh, a cop pulled me over just to tell me that, "You want attention, so you get attention, especially from us".

"Don't try to speed, we have one of these, and know what it can do".

Made me late for work, too. I wasn't speeding, or doing anything illegal.. Just annoying.

Police34, you're just a lucky guy to not be harassed.

LOL, police34 I agree w/ you 100%! I have deserved probably 95% of the tickets I have gotten and do consider a ticket every year or two to just kind of be the fee I pay for driving. My problem is I do enough excessive speeding that they don't have to be jerks to get me. I understand that and if I get caught going too fast then it is what it is. I sped, I got caught, end of story. Sometimes I think people do embellish a little too much, but I also think sometimes an officer who is a good person and tries to do the right thing often thinks it cannot be a fellow member in blue who is described in these rants. I assure you it is. These things do happen. But to keep things in perspective, you don't hear all the stories about blowing by a cop doing 90 in a 55 and them not pulling you over, you don't hear about dumbass high school kids doing burnouts in parking lots and the police just warning them and asking them to leave, you don't hear the stories about your car getting smashed into and the police helping to make sure you are okay. As you said earlier, there are good and bad in every occupation! I wish that some more good stories would come out to balance all these "cops are ********" threads.

Yeaaaap. All but one of the times I've been pulled over has been by some ******** acting all tough and trying to give me a hard time. I even had one threaten to call his buddies so they could all write me up for the same (b/s) tickets.

All but that one ticket have been thrown out of court, go figure. (it was for punching the gas on an onramp)

the problem is that police officers are people. and people run the gamut from pushovers, to nice, to complete ********.

all i ever ask of the police force is for them to be fair. but unfortunately, they cant be that way 100% of the time. or for some cops, 10% of the time. some people have an ax to grind. police34, i think you're a really stand up guy. always have. you're comment that "it happens in every profession" doesnt mean its right. it may be the way it is, but it doesnt make it ok. at one point, in human history, rape was a common form of procreation. it doesnt mean it was ever ok.

i've been tailgated by cops with their highbeams on. from 2 feet away. for miles. i've cops cut me off and roar by me. i remember one incident a few years ago i came around a nice turn at 70mph. speed limit was 55. the cop was far and away away. about a mile later, he comes ripping by me at ~90mph, cuts me off with about 1-2 feet to spare and continues driving like a maniac. dodging cars at 90mph.

no, his lights were not on. and yes, he really did cut me off with a really nasty aggressiveness. and yes, he was indeed doing ~90mph.

i delivered car parts one winter in between semesters. as i was driving for 8 hours a day, i got to see some crazy stuff. i had a new story EVERY day. i cant recall how many cops i've seen pull the whole, "lights on, go through intersection, lights off" deal. hell, i have an ex-gf who used to date a cop and he was so nonchalant about doing that. he would laugh about it. that ***** not funny. not only do the same laws apply to cops as everyone else. cops should hold themselves to A HIGHER STANDARD than everyone else. they enforce the law. they have to set the example.

i remember i got pulled over once. had my gf in the car, we were coming back from dinner. her dress was short, but not that short. but when you sit, they come up a bit more. the cop that came up to her side of the window played his flashlight up and down my gfs legs the ENTIRE time i was talking to the other cop. i wasnt even aware of it. thankfully too. i would have done something stupid to the face of that guy. see, thats an example of an ******* being an *******. he is using his profession to get away with it. but i bet he is like that when he is not on duty too.

i have met a few officers that i thought really highly of. my cities police chief is my neighbor. lives across my backyard. he is a pretty stand up guy. and i've met some cops who i thought were the absolute scum of the earth. the problem is that it only takes a few bad apples to ruin a reputation. because that highly visible ******* 10% is what everybody sees. they dont see the 90% that are just going about their business.

I appreciate your post Kersh. My comment was more triggered to mean that not every profession has perfect employees. It's a shame that some cops act unprofessional and bias but I guess it is what it is. All I know is the people I work with and myself do our job the way it's intended to be done.

I suppose I have my bias due to me having no issues in my old car, then I get this sports car, and blam, 2 tickets in 2 years, pulled over 8 times..

Both tickets are ridiculous.

One, the cop tailgated me.. Didn't show up to court

Two, the cop decided to pull out from a heavy traffic area behind me, decided my car was loud and he'd stop me for "unnecessary noise".

I have no doubt there are good, reasonable cops out there. I've just yet to encounter one.

ive been pulled over a good amount of times and really never had a problem. I have state, highway patrol, and counties within 10 miles about the whole size of my town. I've been pulled over by each a couple times always received a warning. Normally just be nice to the cop, acknowledge you have done wrong. Always make sure you turn your over head lights on and roll down your windows if their tinited. Try to pull as far right as possible even off in the grass a little just so you can give the cop some room from standing on the side of the road.

My bro-in-law is a cop and normally if you try to make cops feel safe during a traffic stop, 85% of the time they will let you get off with a warning unless they are hurting to meet their quota.

I'll add to the rant got pulled over at 8:00am this morning on my way to work for a loud exhaust. I have a greddy sp2 and ap dual res pipe yeah its loud but not at 30-35 miles per hr. I was nothing but courteous even saw my badge which was given to me asked about it and wrote me a ticket. He said make sure you get that fixed. I know its loud and im not complaining about that because technically i deserve the ticket. but 8:00am im trying to get to work do my job and go about my business I think his time could have been better spent thats all.

Of all the times I've been pulled over, I've only had a few tickets. One was me speeding for speeding *Oh, lets see what speed I can hit in fifth gear at the crest of the hill? Oh cool 55...wait, a cop just got me going 55 in a 35." My fault, it happens. Yeah, I was pissed, at myself.

Yet another time, I was being a kid and racing around town REALLY fast *70 or so* at 2 AM. No excuse, and I got busted. Lucky for me, the cop didn't give me a ticket. I was so grateful for that, I've not done it since *coming up to 10 years now...wow...*.

So yeah, I've yet to find a Cop that was a dick to be a dick to me, thankfully. I've heard lots of bad stories of cops in this city, but maybe I just drive the route they aren't at.
