when driving i hear a loud rattling sound in 2nd and 3rd gears. First makes no sound and fourth sounds like a turbine. THe car is driving normal, meaning it doesnt hesitate and the clutch is not difficult to switch gears. I did a search and couldnt find anything on this. I called mazda but they cant look at it until tuesday and today is friday. Has anyone heard of this issue before

 

i just spoke to mazda they think it is a rubber seal that sits next to the transmission, thankfully they were able to pull it in today. they are going to try that and see if it fixes the sound. i am hopeful that is all it is. has anyone else heard of this before

ok,i called mazda today and it wasnt the rubber thing, it was a bearing in the transmission. they are pulling apart the rest of the tranny to make sure nothing else is messed up...ugh

 

i called to see when i will get my car back and they said i should get it tomorrow, they have had it almost a week. i am glad i brought it to the place i did since they gave me a mazda6 loaner for free this entire time, other dealerships said they give 2 days tops after that i have to pay.
I really miss having my 8, and i hope they are correct on there estimate of when i will get it back, since i am going to boston on friday and then i would be out of my car for more then a week. i really cant wait to get it back, this week has been torture since i love cars more then pretty much everything else.

 

Might have them check the tran vibration dapner sheild and see if it is loose , I had that problem and it made noises
