Rear License Plate

Can someone tell me what the bolts that hold the rear license plate in place are connected to. When removing the bolts I heard something fall & now the license plate can't be put back on. I can't seem to find how to get to what fell. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Probably a speed nut that fell off. Speed nuts are like flat "U-shaped" clips that snap onto a panel with a hole in it and then the bolt/screw screws into the speed nut. You'll either have to fish out the one you dropped (try a long-handled magnet) or pick up another one for a pittance at the dealer and have them show you how to install it. May have to take the trunk inner panel off to get at it, however.

I've already tried the long-handled magnet trick and no luck. I've also already taken off the trunk inner panel and it doesn't go through to the license plate area. There's metal inbetween the two.

I would think you'd have to look up from underneith the bumper. The stock exhaust may give you difficulty in being able to see up there well enough, however.

not only can you not reach it from within the trunk but you can reach it from the bottom...just remove the rear bumper

it is easy

I have to take it back to the dealership on Wednesday so the service dept and the body shop can make some corrections on the work they did so I'm just gonna have them fix it while they have it. I've got the license plate zip-tied on right now.... yeah, I know.... tacky, right?!

Just as an FYI for me though.... exactly how many bolts are holding the back bumper on and where are they located?
