Rear speaker rattle fixed!

Hi all,

havent posted here in a while, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got the rear right speaker rattle fixed on my 04 (build date Dec 03). I know that a few people have had this issue yet there's no TSB on it. I've had a rattle that has become progressively worse from the rear right speaker for the past 2 years. It used to come from below the housing and usually happened on rough noneven roads.

I finally was able to reproduce it for a tech at Lee Johnson Mazda in Kirkland, WA and he was able to fix it without replacing the speaker. It seems like there is a plastic clip back there that needs to be removed and some foam insulation to be added around the housing which will fix it.

So if you live in the Seattle area and have this rattle, I suggest going to Lee Johnson and asking for the tech - Mark. He'll fix it for you. My car was just out of warranty so they charged me 2 hours labor, but if yours is under warranty you're golden.

For those who don't have this rattle yet consider yourselves VERY lucky!

I'm really exited as you can tell though since I've had that rattle for so long I keep expecting a squeaking sound from back there but get nothing.

I had this same rattle and got it fixed under warranty a few years ago - no problems since - they actually replaced the rear grill on one side.
