IMHO, the rear window is so sloped that it might benefit from a rear wiper. Then again, it would detract from the clean lines. I guess the whole thing is moot anyway since I also have never seen a rear wiper in any pic.

I don't think Mazda is going to offer a rear wiper. As a matter of fact, I don't think a rear wiper was ever incorporated into the scheme of things for the 8. I like rear wipers though, because I've had many hatchbacks and a rear wiper is mandatory for me. But it can be done on the 8. Remember the Subaru SVX? It was not a hatch, but a coupe, and it had a wiper.
