Anyone with a supercat go in for the recall yet? If so did they say anything about it?

I too have a supercat and will be bringing her in this Monday. From what I read, They check the "cat.' Just dont want to hear it from the techs. Thanks guys.

I was told at the dealer, that no news is good news. if you dont need an engine or recheck, they wont let you know. If you do, you'll receive a letter. Most of the recalls from what I understand from Mazda have been on 04,05 and 06 spt AT'S. Lucky for me, I only drive a MT. Hope this helps.

Mine is still pinging on the gas they put in it. It gets motor mounts next week, I hope to give the service writer a ride so he can hear it.......If it does need a n engine, I dont want to be the first one he done.

I got the letter but haven't had it checked yet - maybe this week. The car's doing great though. I've done lots of Autox'ing and 4 track weekends in the past year, and the engine still runs like new.

Minor anomaly: On 3 out of 4 track weekends, it had a misfire CEL

- Castrol 5w20/5w30
- Shell 93
- No performance mods (yet) just suspension

All this talk about getting CX-7's to drive? Maybe this is an exception, but every other time I've needed a rental they gave me a voucher for some POS rental car from a place down the street (muttermuttermutter)

I took mine in last Thursday. They had it the entire day. At 5pm I was politely informed that they did not do the vacuum test. A short conversation later, my rep found my file from last spring where I went in with a CEL and major lack of power. It was for what he initially thought was an oil metering pump problem but then they reflashed my ECU to fix it... "Oh, they should have tested your car Mr Robinson" said the rep. So, I'm going back on Tuesday for to get the balance of the testing done. I feel pretty good about passing the test, I just want the peace of mind. I already have the new reflash and have to say the car feels smoother and is reasonable strong.

I got a new engine and here are the symptoms leading up to it:

For the past year increasingly difficult to start,
"Marbles in a can sound" at any speed at temps above 85,
Severe loss of power during the marbles in a can sound,
CELs off and on for the 1st and 2nd year of ownership,
seemingly below avg oil consumption (.5 quart every 3000).
Anemic power above 5000 rpm without marbles in a can sound

My car is an 04 MT Touring.

Since getting the new engine (1 week ago) the power is more substantial than when originally purchased, low and especially mid range torque seem to be better (I don't have convienient access to a dyno). I can't really say on the mileage, but it seems to be better. No CELs and no power loss even with temps still above 90.
I am very satisfied with this new engine. It feels like my car not only has a new lease on life, but a better life than it ever had before.

Only Reflash and new plugs needed

That's all I needed. The service manager said that five or six RX-8's have been coming in a day. The only annoying thing was I put in three gallons of gas at my expense to top off the rental car, but only drove 25 miles to work and back. Rental clerk just laughed when I asked for refund on the extra two gallons. I just blew it off, but after I thought about it, I started getting pissed -- more at the dealer for not handling the gas. I rental clerk said his friend had the recall/reflash done and it improved the gas mileage. I will report back afte this tank. I was getting about 240 a tank before the warning light went on with easy driving back and forth to work.

I noticed that I'm showing only 1 post. I've posted before, but hadn't since over a year ago. I have to admit to not getting back to this board very much but since I got what appeared to be a serious recall, of course the first place I came was here. Perhaps this is the same with the others who said they needed engines. Oh, the service manager didn't mention the extended year on the warranty. I have the letter from Mazda, but I'll show it to them some other time -- it didn't surprise me that he didn't mention it. He's been marginally helpful and informed with the other recalls.

My car went in last night. service rep asked several questions pertaining to performance, oil consumption, last oil change and driving style.
My response was "I drive it like I stole it". My wife makes sure to hear the ding at least once a week from a good loaded pull up an on-ramp. Service person smirked and said well that's how it should be driven and you may not have any problems.

I also instructed to NOT wash it nor rotate tires. Raised eyebrow and a "why". I said that's my job

Don't trust the dealer. Mine is an '04 MT, build date in Summer 03. I got the letter. I would verify that MNAO has your correct VIN and address. You want this recall.

OK - heres what I got I work VERY closely with my MAZDA dealer.
1) The reason they dont want your car right now and the reason you havent recieved the letter yet is because they want to fix their own cars first so they can sell them.
2) My car= 04 gt auto, YES very loud marbles, stalling ect... yes I need an engine.
3) I took my car in a month ago for the symptoms and they said they "REMAPPED IT" whatever. never fixed it. I am hoping for better performance.

Went in the first week of the recall for the local dealer, my check engine light happened to come on about the same time as the recall.

Got a new cat and spark plugs, replaced the brakes as well since they were a'squeakin. Dealer told me Mazda expects to replace about 2% of engines, most cars should just be plugs, cats, computer, or a combination of the three, or none of the three. Dealer (Diamond Mazda Baton Rouge LA) also told me they are doing three a week there and Mazda gave them three CX-7s for those that need them, as this is part of the deal.

When I brought mine in they didn't have a CX-7 available so they sent me across the street to Enterprise, ended up with a Hyundai Sonata, :/. Dealer ate the cost though, so I didn't mind too terribly much.

Picking car up at lunch. Clean bill of health.
Changed plugs and all tests passed.

Drive it like you stole it and it's all going to be fine.

No my engine appear to have no malfuction. Except when It rain really hared my engine appeared to not want to excelerated and had serious lag at 5k rpm. But I think that was due to the fact that I add to much oil. I'm pretty sure I smoked it out thought it took a good 400 miles

But I just bought it recently several month ago. I'm just a little worried. I would hate to ignore it and have something go wrong when it lease convient.

Just got my car back from the recall.. for the second time. They didn't do the vacuum test the first time, but my rep was cool and worked with me to get it done today. I'm sooo relieved that I don't need a new engine. My baro voltage was 3.9 and the idle voltage was 1.79

Oh, I've go 55k miles on my 04 MT and I drive it like I stole it

okay....took my car in for the exhaust recall...while i was there they asked if my car had ever flooded..

i said no...

next they asked if i had ever exsperienced power loss.....

i said twice...once while i was in Ga (i was stationed there from 02-04)...and once since i've been home probable late 04-early 05. it felt like the car was very sluggish...you gave it gas and it went no where...both times it did that i took her home and parked her....later that day or the next she started up fine..and had no issues at all with power and performed normally.

also of note my engine had an oil leak, the front e-shaft seal was leaking (the rotary equivalent of a crank seal).

so they did whatever the dealership does to test...and now i have a new engine.

nothing else was replaced. the clutch still had over 50% of it's life left and the flywheel adn other clutch components were fine.

so other than the oil leak (of which i had baught the seal to do it myself) and the 2 times i had power issues.....over a 3 year period (haven't had issues for about 1 - 1.5 years) my car was fine.

that's how it went...not really sure how it went on the dealership side (what they said to mazda etc. etc.). but they did the t.s.b. and found some issues apparently. but the new engine is great and she feels just liek when i first got her

Picked up my car today. New engine, new mounts and reflashed PCM. The oil filter is tiny, though the service manager says it's ok. The sound at idle of the new motor is diffrent. It's raining today so I really haven't pushed it any to see how responds. I will update my findings.

are the dealers recommending those with "new" engines follow any break-in procedures???
