Angry recall issues

hi all,

i purchased my rx8 on march 5th 2004. I still own my 88 rx7 convertible and totally love this new car. It's like night and day. Soon after, I noticed all the recall issues while reading the threads after my purchase. While at the dealer, a friend of mine had informed me to discuss the recall issues and even the buyback that had occurred months prior for those who were dissatisfied with the first cars released. The salesman and the sales manager denied any recent recalls and any knowledge of the buyback, i guess for fear that i may leave the dealership and reconsider. The dealership had sold me the car, clear after the defect issues were known, and hadn't disclosed them to me. At present, they have been calling me to remind me about recent recall repairs, only after the purchase.

My concern is that after reading the mazda service bulletins, they were not supposed to sell any cars after feb 2004, if the recall repairs werent made.

It seems they illegally sold me a car without making the repairs, and it is only now after it being sold, that they are alerting me of the recall issues. Im wondering if i have a case to complain and possibly receive compensation, because the recal issues were sent to all dealerships during feb. 2004. Otherwise, I may have to complain to the department of consumer affairs because from what i understand that dealership should be fined a hefty penalty for selling me the car without disclosing the recall issues until after i signed the papers and drove it off the lot. Im wondering if the dealership would compensate me as to avoid the penalties issued by our federal government for ignoring "the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act" otherwise im calling NBC news, hehe.

any thoughts??

The recals are not a safety issue, at least for your car. One changes a vibration damper, and the other puts an extension on the passenger side airbag wires just to eliminate the posibility of chafing the wire. Go back to the dealer for the recalls and get a free oil change. The sales staff are the last to know about recalls. Just enjoy the car. It is a great ride.

There was indeed a STOP sell order for all cars on the dealers lot. They were required to fix this BEFORE they could sell it.

The air bag fix was a little more than for just a possible wire chafing. The wires had been reversed that set the bags off for either a minor crash vs a major crash. The extension just puts the wires to the correct sensor.

Mine had a sticker for both recalls under the hood when I got it on the 13th.
