recall on my 06?????

I was driving and noticed my clutch pedal was sqeeking...I was not sure what the noise was as it just started out of nowhere. Now it seems fine after i let the car sit for a while. I called a dealer and asked them if there are any recalls on the 06 and he asked me for my vin number. After checking he said there is a recall on that VIN and i need a ECU flash, cataliytic converter check, spark plug check. I dont understand..the car is running fine so do i need to get this crap done?

PS. Whats with Mazda and all their recalls? I got rid of the MS6 because its a recall machine and now I find out this car is doing the same things. Never had this with my rsx type s

its a rotary engine, better get that stuff checked out. its just minor stuff that keeps you in the clear for the future.

would you rather not have recalls on known problems?

Tons of topics on this recall

If your car is running fine then nothing will be changed. I personally have had this recall done.

edit: Actually they will reflash the ecu but thats really not a big deal.

again, do some searching. the recall has been discussed too many times to count. plenty have had it done already and have given their comments on how it went.

I am surprised that your new 06 was not updated prior to it being delivered. I got mine several weeks ago and the dealership had done every RX8 in inventory under recall as a matter of course. Any dealer can run your vin in the Mazda system and see if your car has received any updates. Don't let this ruin your day, just be glad your car is getting the recall done off the front and not after miles of use.

I am just worried. Everytime I have to deal with dealers stuff goes bad. I didnt get the flash done on the MS6 because it messes up the car. I am afraid this will do the same on this car.

Are you absolutely sure yours hasn't already been done? They can tell if your vin is in the range without checking the system, so I would make sure you aren't taking the car back in for work thats already been done. Btw- I can tell you that my car has run great from the time I picked the car up at the dealership with the recall work already done, so I wouldn't sweat that part.

I am not sure. He asked me to read him my VIN number and I did. And then he said that my car needs to be inspected for the recall and that my VIN shows that it needs to be done?? My car drives perfect and i have no starting problems at all.

The dealer may have performed the recall, but not have updated the database. I had that happen to me: I bought the 8 after the first recall came out, and the dealer told me that I had to get it done at the first oil change. Gave me a rental and all. I was pissed. However, turns out they did do the recall already, but never marked it. The tech said "recall already done."

I brought mine in for that recall with just 3000 miles. Ran fine before and after. They reflashed the ECU and replaced the leading plugs. Gave me a free loaner for the day.

There's a sticky thread here that lists all the service bulletins and recalls. Look this one up...4206f. Read the docs, especially the dealer letters. Play it right and you'll get a free wash and tank of gas. I screwed up and did not let them know that I knew about the "white glove" policy. Got the wash but not the gas.

The main thing with the new flash is that it reprograms the oil injection, which should help engine life.

A recall does not necessarily mean something is wrong with your particular car... this is preventative. Just take it in and let them do their thing.

It does not sound as serious as it is, sometimes even as little as a *singal light might not flash* can result in a recall. It happened to my father's mini van once, big deal ? nope.

Most of the time they issue a recall because they discovered a problem(in labs or real incident), and they just trying to prevent it from happening again(Cuz if they know something and not telling people about it, or someone *found* the problem and die/injured cuz of it, people can sue them for LOTs of money)

most people dont even need any replacements, only one of the few unlucky ones does(engine), Most of us have the new spark plugs and new cats already.

Recall happens all the time, Im curious how old are you ? and do you consider yourself a *motorhead* or just one of the average joe out there ? Reason I ask is because it sounds like you aint young but probably one of the average joes out there. (when it comes to automobiles)

You car would be fine, just let them do it.

hehe, just got my car back from the recall work today...........

..........everything is fine (no re-hab engine for me). But the funny thing is, I get in my car to leave and the sun visor falls in my face. Yep, they broke the infamous sun visor while doing the recall work.........

And of course they don't have any in stock. Honestly, why don't Mazda dealerships keep like 6000 sun visors in stock..........??

I guess you can say I am an average joe and im 24 years old. I have had 2 acuras before these 2 mazdas...a 95 Integra LS SE and a 2003 RSX type S. I never had problems with either of the cars and my integra was dropped, i/h/e pullys short shifter and full suspension. I learned how to drive stick on that car and had a stock clutch till 85 thousand. So my concern is that MAZDA seems to be a shitty car brand. The speed 6 had huge powerloss issues where the turbo would pretty much stop spooling. Now i get the RX8 and this thing has problems starting, sqweeky clutch and a recalll once again. So i am worried more then anything.

take this scenerio...I was driving the 8 and i redlined 2nds gear, then cruised down the road until about 40 mph and then turned into my parking lot and found a spot. I heard you have to rev the car before you turn it off...so i reved it to 4k for like a few seconds, not more then 2 and then let the car return to idle and turned it off. Was i supposed to have it turn over 3 times before it started? Or is that normal for these things. Also a lot of people keep telling me that the Rotoray engine break down all the time...is this true?
