Recall question

I got the recall notice and IF i do have to get a new engine will mazda give me a loaner? i know they will but i'm only 18 so i'm wondering if they would give me one? my rx8 is the only car i have available due to college and being away from home and such. Any response would be nice

I see your question, many rental car companies won't rent to anyone under 25. Have you ever had service on your 8 and they gave you a loaner in the past? My guess is that if it is a Mazda dealer loaner, you would get one for the recall but if it is through a rental car company with an agreement with your dealer, I'm not sure. Best bet is to call your dealer directly and ask. If you don't get a satisfactory answer talk to Mazda North America.

Not if his dealer uses a car rental company. Doesn't matter what Mazda says Enterprise will not put an 18 year old into one of thier cars.

true for the most part. some rental car companies will alow this, but expect to pay a significantly larger charge per day cost for the rental vehicle. Something he would probably have to pay out of pocket for.

I agree with most of what was said above. If the dealer and the rental car company give you grief about the loaner or that you should have to pay the difference between the Mazda pay rate and the charge rate for underage drivers, dig in you heals and call the phone number on the recall notice to MNAOs service center using the dealer's phone. For this recall I believe that MNAO will do whatever is necessary to make you happy as an owner. You can't be without a car for that long, or really at all. The service center should have the power to authorize a higher rental rate if necessary. Remember to bring the notice with you to the dealer and use the phone number if necessary.

What should happen is the dealer put you in a loaner that they own, or slap a temp tag on a used car from the lot. It is possible for the car rental company to be out of cars and dealers should have this ' PLAN B '

Depends on where you are made to go for your rental. When i had to put my car in the shop for hitting a raccoon, Budget charged me the standard rate + an extra 25ish dollars a day for insurance b/c I was under the 25 year old range. thank GOD for rental coverage on my insurance b/c it saved me like $800 dollars in rental fees.

Enterprise didn't charge me any extra fees even though im under 25, i just put my car in to a body shop to get re-sprayed on some parts from getting egged a few weeks ago, after this is done I'll be doing the recall notice and probably be in another rental.

Part of the warranty is that if your car is laid up for warranty work you get a loaner. If they sold you the car, issues about rental companies, being 18, etc., are Mazda's problem, not yours.

Question. Do you own your car yourself? A lot of dealers won't sell a car directly to someone under 21. If one of your parents bought it for you, and Mazda considers them to be the owner, you're stuck. But they'd be entitled to a loaner. You could then use their car to get around.
