recalls

I took my 8 in for the recalls, and when I picked it up...they said it inspected fine and no work was needed. Had a hard time understanding this since they held off for a week because they were waiting on parts. I thought the ball-joint was an inspect and repair as necessary and the gas tank was a mod. Can anyone give me some insight here?

depending on the build date of your car, its possible that no action is needed.

The ball joint recall was sent to all cars within the build date becuase they did not have accurate record for the specific control arm installed in each car. the visual inspection is nothing more than identifying the casting code. In rare circumstances they arms will be replaced. Majority require no work at all. You can do this one yourself.

The heat recall was sent to all group 1 cars. The various meltable items might have been fine on your car but all group 1 cars needed the insulation added above the gas tank. If they didn't add the insulation bring it back.

Go to http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ins_index.html and print out the repair procedures and go over with the dealer.

Do you have the part numbers for the control arms that were replaced? Are you sure that they just didn't inspect? Actual replacement is very very rare.

Interesting. None of the bad arms were supposed to have escaped Japan. What's your build date?
