recalls taking too long, crappy rent-a-car

took my car in for ball joint and fuel tank recalls and also complained about squeaking brakes. so the car has been in the shop (mazda in manhattan) since monday and they keep telling me its backed up and recently gave me a new freelander as a rental. I just have to keep reminding myself to not corner too hard or else that **** will roll over.

I never got a loaner or a rental before, and I'm freakin affraid to take it anywhere because I refused to pay anymore money for insurance or crap while my car is in the shop. So I'm driving around worrying more about the futtin' freelander than I do about my rx8, if there's a scratch or any of that found after i return it, that's more money out of my pockets because my car was in the shop for 4+ days and I really need a damn car in order to get poontang from my girl.

Its not that I'm a cheap bastard, its all about principle. Mazda keeps my car longer than they had expected (4 hour job taking five days- projected by them) gives me a crappy rental and covers only a fraction of what I need to be completely insured and safe in that rental. Why the hell should I pay any money at all for an alternate car because mine has engineering flaws?

I am suffering from seperation anxiety and just want my car back. I hate this rent-a-car but I have no choice, I need to get around so this is better than nothing. I realized that this is a big freakin city and that everyone decided to bring their rx8's in at the same damn time for recall work so I can't really fault anyone, except rant about it.

what makes one eligible for a rental/loaner on behalf of mazda? is it when they keep your car longer than a day? I mean I'm sure most people use their cars to drive to work and its inconvenient to take in your car when its not even your fault to begin with. which reminds me, I'm never changing my oil at a mazda dealer... I don't believe in any oil change taking longer than 30 minutes.

My car was in for 7 hours and I got a rental. They did not do the recall though because their computer was fucked up and the new flash cannot be loaded so I am going back Saturday. I got a freaking Kia Rio, I didn't accept the insurance either but drove that **** to about 100mph on the freeway.

Most *real* car insurance policies cover you if you're in a rental car... Yet another reason I stick with more established companies and never buy anything online.

I took my car in on Tuesday and also got a kia rio. I hate being seen in it and wont park in my stall at work. When the guy brought it out I said "You got to be freaking kidding me. I drive a 35 thousand dollar car and youre giving me a 35 hundred dollar car."

Wow you got a Freelander? You should be happy compared to the Kias and Hyundais other people are getting for loaner cars.

lol... :D Not kidding man, I was trying to race a Monte Carlo in the Rio. The chic in the Carlo was trying to let me know I got a shitty Rio...I wanted to let her know it's not the car, it's the driver that matters when it comes to flooring the gas pedal. She end up beating me as I could not maintain the speed in the Rio as it was kinda shaky and stuff

They probably get Rx8's.

I got a Dodge Dakota v8 pick up as a rental. Driving this thing scares the **** out of me. Oh yeah, and i'm payin out the waazoo for gas. Too bad the dealer wont compensate for gas. They've had my car fo 5 days now, but thats alos because they are doing a clutch job.

Did my control arms, gas tank recalls, plus air bag light, M flash and a few other things in 4 hours. Dropped it off at 11:45, and they called me at 4PM to tell me my car was done.

However, I waited a week to find an empty slot in thier books.

When I take my Lexus to the dealer, they give me a Lexus loaner as well, usually a ES, or RX 330.

Last time I got an RX with 650 miles on it.

I've been getting a Mercury Sable (not bad I guess). I took my car in for the recall issues and to have some other things looked at (brakes, AC, flash, oil....) The oil, flash, and recall were done the same day. The brakes and AC needed parts ordered (understandable), but when I got my baby back and the AC wasn't working (compressor cycling on/off repeatedly, no cold air). Now its going back for the third time next week (I guess their AC machine was broken)... so a month after I started all of this hopefully the 8 will be up to spec.

I hope

So let me guess you got your car from them.Same here. and guess what happened to me ?

2 weeks ago, I called in made an appointment for the recall, it was suppose to be last thursday.

Ok, when I got there last thursday, the lady at the service floor , told me that

"We cannot find your appointment sir ~ Who did you spoke to when you made the appointment ?"

I mean obviously I dont remember what the guy's name was. so I was like no I dont remember, ok then the Service manager Todd (The first room, I think all Mazda goes to him) spoke to me and was like

"Sorry we cant do it today, cuz we cant find your appointment."
"......................"
"where do you go to work/school ?"
"Long island"
"Oh Long Island, you might want to do it at the Mazda in Long island instead, I mean we want your business but, if thats more closer for you -- oh maybe do you want to come back next tuesday instead?(which was 3 days ago)"

I was quite pissed already since I can swear to whatever that I did called and I made the appointment and some dude told me to come in Last Thursday. I woke up like 7 something just for that. and I ended-up walking out of the place empty-handed.

Good, I mean Great, this is just rediculous.

The guy from the Valet still remember me, I was there couple weeks ago cuz the Brakes squeakkkkkk like crazy.

How he remembered me?

Cuz for a 15 minutes job (How long it takes to replace front brake pads? Come on), I was there and waited for 6 almost 7 hours.

My point is that, I know people are really nice there, but heres something I want to say, and yes, this is for MANHATTAN MAZDA.

- I dont want to be a bitxh about it but, I made an appointment, you guys cant find it, thats your own problem. I just got there for nothing? Sorry not going to help, I mean its NOT my fault !

- Your Company is big and nice, I know. But your service department really SUCKS !!!!! I know you're busy but, expand the Service Department a LITTLE IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE LOAD !!!!

Im not going to go back there ever again. simple as that.

There is no excuse. Mine took a couple of hours twice. The first time they ordered the parts and when I brought it back the put them on. I would file a complaint with the Mazda number. I always get good service. There is no reason to have the car for recall more then a couple of days.

I had a 9am appointment yesterday to have the recall done along with the squeaky front brakes and rough idle. I was told it would take about 4-5 hours if nothing serious for the rough idle. I called at about 3pm and was told they were really backed up and just started looking at my car. Their excuse was that these recall works really took longer than what Mazda specified. So my car won't be ready for yesterday. I got a Chrysler Sebring for the rental. It made me really appreciate my RX-8. I called this morning again and was told the car should be ready by 1:30pm. After reading the other thread about cars being damaged at the dealership, it made me kind of nervous. I will check my car thoroughly when I pick it up later this afternoon.

Took mine in two days ago to Alhambra Mazda, Los Angeles area, for gas tank recall and 3K service. Dropped it off around noon and got a call at 4:30 that it was all ready, including the repair of two interior trim pieces that I brought to their attention. Total damage: four and a half hours and $0.
