Redline warning chime

I haven't heard the chime yet and have hit redline a few times. For those that have heard it, is it real faint that I might not hear it? Or might it be turned off and I don't know it? Or is it just that I was too mesmerized by the sound of the engine at 9 Grand I didn't notice it???:D

Me too

I had the same experince. I didn't hear the warning chime. I am going to mention it when I get my first check up at the dealers.
For those who have heard it, is it loud enough? Thanks.

Ya, it's loud enough to hear. I hit it once (accidentally) while I was passing someone. Didn't mean to, as I only have about 350 miles on the engine...

it's quite audible while watching the short video clips in the J-Spec 8's...maybe they reduced the volume and/or took it out completely (which of course is becoming a common trend in the A-Spec versions)?

I can hear mine, but it is VEEERY faint. You have to really listen for it, but it IS there. I can't hear it in third gear due to the increased interior noise, but you should be able to hear it in first and second.

I wish it was louder. I was a little disappointed when I first went to redline. It is really useless as is, due to the inaudibility.

It is quite quiet. I'm glad it's not as blaring and intrusive as the ones on my old RX-3's and RX-7's, but I think it could do with being a little louder. Perhaps the beeper is just badly positioned for LHD - it seems louder from the passengers seat (which would of course be the drivers seat in Japan.)

With the stereo on a medium volume, I could barely here it during my test drive. I think I hit it in second gear.

It should be louder if it is there at all. Put on a racing helmet and you can forget about hearing it all together.

no buzzer (or chime) here either

I hit 9K at least twice last w/e at 'The Gap' -windows open, no stereo, no helmet, sunroof open, 2nd gear. I've heard 1st gen buzzers - if there is a 'buzzer' it is not what I expected. If it's a chime and I just can't hear it, it's useless. IMHO mine is not working. Have hit it 3 times total at least and no buzzer or chime.

p.s. zoom44 - I was just looking for the thread about 1st pre-orders who haven't received their car yet - are you the only one still RX-8-less?

I heard it on the car I test drove, but it was VERY faint and I missed it the first time. I don't know. The one on my third gen is much louder. Does anyone know if something can be done to increase the volume?

I thought that, although the redline is 9000, the buzzer doesn't come on until around 9200 and the fuel cuts out at about 9500. For the people that heard the buzzer, is it at 9000 or another RPM?

I was over 9000 when it sounded, I would say at about 9300.

With stereo off and windows closed I could hear it in first at 8500rpm, but barely hear it in 2nd (at 8500rpm again) due to louder road noise etc. I didn't try to redline in third or above during my test drive.

Well I, for one, loved the grating buzzer in the RX-7. I'll be sad if the buzzer/beeper in my car is quiet - 550 miles to go...

Not quite ready to test the chime but I thought it was supposed to be at 8500rpm to "remind you to shift" not at engine cutoff above 9200rpm. Or does it sound twice? If not, I would have the car checked to find out why the warning is not happening before 9000rpm. Calibration error

It could be that the chime was 'enhnaced' in the track video, too. Or maybe the video microphone happended to be near the source of the chime.

WHERE'S THE BEEP?

I have now been up in the 9k range and have yet to hear the Joy Buzzer.

ROFL.

Actually, it's more like a "peep" than a BEEP. It's almost apologetic.

Also it stays on continuously whilst you are above 8500rpm up to fuel cutoff at 9500rpm. That could be why some think it starts at a higher rpm - by the time they look at the tach upon hearing the peep it has already moved to 9000+ rpm.

The beep is all but drowned out by the engine.......you almost most have to strain to hear it, but it is there........useless, but there none the less.

The buzzer is quiet. It can be heard if you are at 8500 rpm at part throttle. I am curious about the fuel cut-off. Is it a hard cut-off where the rpm's have to drop below 9500 rpm before fuel kicks back in, or is it more gradual? Does the fuel cut-off sound like a misfire, or is it just a slight vibration?
