3rd night I had my 8 a dude in a brand new Porsche Caymann S pulled up next to me and ASKED me to race, to which I was obliged, even though we both knew it wasnt a fair go. At the nex red light he pulled up next to me and said "Man, I iwsh I had a car like that in my 20's! Nice ride!"
People who know cars well enough will give the 8 its due respect. People who dont give the car a nod have never read up on why they deserve one, let alone have driven one.
I give respect to drivers based on their driving ability, not the machine theyre driving, but thats just me.

I get possitive compliments about my car all of the time and it is pretty much stock and yes people do ask. "what kinda car is that" many people really do not even know what an rx-8 even is yet. Many of the compliments come from down to earth older males though that also appreciate cars I think younger guys are affraid to compliment much of the time because they think they are giving something up or disrespecting their car. Don't worry guys you can't cheat on a car only your wife. LOL

And just an FYI ... if you're in the Chicago area, there is a great group of people who get together and appreciate and talk about each other's cars. It's the JGTCA (Japanese Grand Touring Cars of America). Usually, I'm the only 8 there ... tho I still drool over those beautiful black Mark IVs that show up .... and the NSX made my eyes pop out. Always nice to see other car enthusiasts gettin along!

I have a hard time showing respect to :
1) VW Bettles with the fake flower on the dash....especially when some 50 your old man is driving it.
2) Mini-Vans.
3) A cheap econo-box car that has been riced out to the max....are these people doing drugs?

I(to a degree) respect other peoples choices regardless how different they are from mine. Econobox ricers included. Their just going through an adolescent thing. They won't be driving those ity bity cars when their 35. It's a good choice for them now.

How about adding scion tc's and everyone who drives them.
Yesterday I was cut off twice by an idiot driving one.
Not to mention almost getting rear ended by a scion, and sideswiped by one.

We all choose our cars for different reasons...I hate when people get all high school clicky with their cars..... my two cents.
