One question for you just to clarify. When you use the 2005 retracable key to start your car, is it the only Mazda Rx-8 key on that key ring?

I just want to rule out the fact that it isn't a 2004 key sending the signal to the immobilizer receiver to actually let the car start instead of the 2005 programmed key doing it.

Yes, one key on one ring. Actually, if you have two keys close enough together to the pick up coil the engine may not start, regardless if both keys are programmed.

This procedure is in the shop manual & has always worked.

Here's both procedures I used. Caution on the transmitter programming- When it says press the door switch 3 times, they mean the small door ajar switch located on the rear driver's side door, just below the front door catch.

Nomis, they are swapping lot with Dodge next door. It will be only Mazda, no Mits. or Kia.

Isn't Dodge in the same lot as Acura? If so, cool, that means I can take both my cars to the same lot!

Got mine at Trussville, Mazda for $175.00. Had it cut by a local key shop and thanks to Mazda Monkey I was able to program both the key and the remote in about 3 minutes. Thanks, you saved me a $175.00 charge from my local dealer.
It works great and is the coolest.

Does anyone know if you can purchase the one piece key at a dealership? If so where I am in New York and none of the dealerships around here seem to have the key.

use the part numbers supplied earlier in the thread. Two of my local dealers were able to find the parts in their systems based on these numbers.

the key sets are on national back order. I am not taking any orders until the orders I have come in. you can go to your local dealer though and buy them, if they have them but I think they will not have them either.
the part numbers are:

key: G2YA-76-2GX
fob: FE04-67-5RY

you have to buy both to get the set. I will start taking orders again after I start getting them in. I have no idea when they will be coming in though, hopefully soon. I truly thought they would be here by now.

Thanks for posting these, I don't know that there is a way to open a .wps file on a Mac, at least if there is I don't have the software to do it. Question though, I can see how to register a key, and all sorts of cautionary info in the files you posted, but I don't see anything baout programming the key fob, am I missing something?

I love this thing. I constantly have people ask me about it since I got my '05. Great idea! Oh, BTW it also makes a great weapon for when your cruising on the bad side of town.
