REV App for the iphone
#27
I didn't take any pics of the device yet, but i will once I find a permanent location for it. For now here's a few screen shots. I've only had it for a day, so i'll get some more impressions and images soon.
Veritas717: it supports the following from the OBDII port.
Air intake Temp
Barometric Pressure
Calculated Engine Load
Engine Coolant Temp
Fuel Consumption (most depressing gauge ever)
Fuel Level
Fuel Trim (Long B1)
Fuel Trim (Short B1)
Mass Air Flow
RPM
Throttle Position
Timing Advance
Vehicle Speed
Police34: As of now, i think all of the apps work only with a select couple of wifi readers.
On to the screen shots:
Notice that it grabs 3 metrics from OBD and lateral and acceleration G's from the accelerometer. You can pick any 3 metrics for this.

I've had this for a while now on my iPhone/RX-8.
Cuts out intermittently but no biggie. Mainly have it to clear my CEL for my midpipe. I know for a fact that the RX8 puts out more OBD2 metrics then the app/tool reads so that was a bit of a bummer.
I am going to be selling it soon though due to other plans.

Awesome thanks for that info Fuz! I was having a heck of a time finding what our OBDII will output. Now I just need to find a good spot to for the iphone in the car that wont let it bounce around like windshield mounts. Was thinking about an ashtray mod like Altspace's PocketPC mod. Have you had any luck or ideas for that yet?

^I'll get you some pics tomorrow. I use a cheap lighter charger/mount by DLO i believe. I'll have to check once it's light out and get you some pics up. It's not optimal placement, but it works.

in the specs for the Rev app using the PLX Kiwi WiFi. it states it can measure WHP and Torque. i think it uses the built in accelarometer in the ipod while measuring RPM and vehicle speed. does anyone know how accurate this really is?

Yes, REV 2.0 is a lot nicer. I still haven't gotten around to taking pics though. Once it warms up a bit i'll try to get some.
JWoody: it's probably as accurate as any other software/gps based dyno. I've heard that they can be close, but real dyno numbers can be inconsistent depending on the type and calibration. I've never really used it for that since i have nowhere to get a flat out 3rd or 4th gear run like i would on a dyno.
